In Anno 117: Pax Romana, roads are essential for moving goods and connecting your buildings. Traffic jams can slow down production, so upgrading your roads is important to keep your city running smoothly.
How To Upgrade Roads In Anno 117 Pax Romana
In Anno 117: Pax Romana, improving your roads starts with researching the right technologies. The first upgrade, Paved Roads, becomes available once you’ve collected at least 50 Concrete. You can find this option in the Economic research tree.
Paved Roads increase the speed of goods transport and extend the reach of buildings.
The next upgrade you can unlock is Marble Roads. You’ll need to have at least 5 Marble stored to get it. Similar to Paved Roads, Marble Roads make transporting goods faster and allow your buildings to reach further. As a bonus, they also give you a small amount of Prestige. You can find this upgrade in the Civic tree.
I’ve discovered that once you’ve done the research and gathered the right stuff, you can actually build over the existing roads to improve them! It’s a really cool way to upgrade the roads without having to tear them down and rebuild.
If you rebuild the road, we’ll refund the cost of the materials. This means you don’t need to worry about switching from Paved Roads to Marble Roads later on.
How To Make Concrete For Paved Roads
Players can craft Concrete once they’ve reached the Eques population level in Anno 117: Pax Romana. After that, they need to construct a Limestone Quarry in one of the available mountain areas.
Next, collect Sand on the coast.
Finally, build the Concrete Mixer to mix the materials to produce Concrete.
For optimal performance, it’s best to have one Limestone Quarry, two Sand Refineries, and three Concrete Mixers. While the Quarry and Refineries need common workers, the Mixers require more skilled labor.
How To Make Marble For Marble Roads
Keep expanding your Eques population, and you’ll eventually unlock Marbles. Locate an island suitable for Marble production, and then construct a Marble Quarry on it.
After that, build a Marble Masonry to turn raw Marble into processed Marble. Similar to concrete production, the marble mine needs Plebeian workers, but the masonry work itself must be done by Equites.
