Previously, there was talk—or at least an expectation—that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would be released in 2026. However, recent reports from those familiar with the project suggest a 2026 release is no longer planned, and the game won’t be showcased at The Game Awards 2025.
Naughty Dog announced their new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, at last year’s The Game Awards. It’s a sci-fi fantasy that looks quite different from their previous games, though some characters will be familiar. Excitement for the game quickly grew, so when former journalist Colin Moriarty suggested it would launch in 2026, many fans were thrilled. Unfortunately, that excitement didn’t last long, as reliable sources – including Moriarty himself – have since confirmed that report was inaccurate.
No Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet at The Game Awards 2025, Insiders State
It’s frustrating to be misrepresented, especially when someone is just guessing and others act like they have all the facts. Because of this, I’ve been told the game won’t release in 2026 and won’t be shown at The Game Awards. Honestly, I don’t care about arguing over who was right or wrong on a podcast.

Following Colin Moriarty’s widely shared comments, several people with knowledge of the situation immediately went to social media to disprove the claim that the game Intergalactic would be released in 2026. Jason Schreier, a well-known journalist in the gaming world, was the first to respond, stating on a post in the /GamingLeaksandRumours forum that Intergalactic is definitely not scheduled for a 2026 release.
Video game journalist Jeff Grubb announced on Twitter that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet won’t be released in 2026 and won’t be featured at this year’s The Game Awards. Shortly after, Colin Moriarty clarified on social media that comments attributed to him in a recent report were a misrepresentation of his personal opinion.
It’s going to be a long wait for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Even the game’s director, Neil Druckmann, doesn’t know when we’ll see it again. It will be interesting to learn more as details are released, and seeing gameplay will be exciting. Given Naughty Dog’s strong history, the game is definitely one to keep an eye on when it finally launches.
