Overwatch 2 Fans Can Get Amazing New Skin, But There’s a Catch

Okay, so here’s the deal: if you play World of Warcraft: Midnight and do the first little quest for the new Housing feature in Patch 11.2.7, you get a seriously cool Xal’atath Symmetra skin in Overwatch 2 completely free! And it’s not just Overwatch – you also snag some free goodies for Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and Diablo Immortal too. It’s a pretty sweet deal if you’re already a WoW player.

Players are almost able to decorate their own homes in World of Warcraft! The complete feature will launch with the Midnight expansion, but those who’ve pre-ordered can start building and customizing in early access. This early access arrives with World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7 on December 2nd.

Good news for Overwatch 2 players! Blizzard is offering special rewards in World of Warcraft when the Midnight update launches. Overwatch 2 fans can earn the Xal’atath Symmetra skin, a matching spray and name card, and a Dark Heart player icon by completing the new Housing intro quest. However, to access this quest and unlock these items, you’ll need to pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Midnight and earn the “Welcome Home” achievement.

Completing this will also give you rewards in other Blizzard games. You can earn a Hearth & Home card back for Hearthstone, Horde and Alliance skins for StarCraft 2, and a Sin’dorei portrait for Diablo Immortal. Plus, Hearthstone is adding a special Epic card inspired by WoW’s housing system, which players can get through an in-game event.

How to Get Free WoW Rewards in Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and Diablo Immortal

  • Make a World of Warcraft account
  • Pre-purchase Midnight, as well as World of Warcraft subscription time
  • On December 2 or later, complete the Housing introduction questline and move into a neighborhood to earn the “Welcome Home” achievement
  • Doing so will automatically unlock the following rewards:
    • Overwatch 2
      • Xal’atath Symmetra Legendary Skin
      • Xal’atath Symmetra Spray
      • Xal’atath Symmetra Name Card
      • Dark Heart Player Icon
    • Hearthstone
      • Hearth & Home Card Back
    • StarCraft 2
      • Horde- and Alliance-themed console skins
    • Diablo Immortal
      • Sin’dorei Portrait

Xal’atath Symmetra is a slightly different version of the Tyrande and Sin’dorei Symmetra skins. The Tyrande skin was originally given to attendees of BlizzCon 2019, along with an Illidan Genji skin. The Sin’dorei skin, themed after Blood Elves, was available in the Overwatch shop for 1900 coins, but it’s now rare and can only be found occasionally in the shop or in Loot Boxes. This makes Xal’atath Symmetra the most easily obtainable skin, especially for Overwatch 2 players who were already planning to purchase the Midnight skin.

So, Blizzard keeps adding awesome skins from World of Warcraft to Overwatch 2, which I’m totally here for! You can still buy Blackhand Doomfist and Magni Torbjorn with credits you earn just by playing. But the older WoW skins – like Lich King Reinhardt, Diamond Magni Torbjorn, Sylvanas Widowmaker, and Thrall Zenyatta – aren’t directly available anymore, you can only get them from Loot Boxes now. They released those to celebrate WoW‘s 20th anniversary last year. Now with the new Xal’atath Symmetra skin, there are even more ways for WoW fans like me to show off our love for that game while playing Overwatch 2!

It appears there’s currently no deadline to get the Xal’atath Symmetra skin in World of Warcraft: Midnight, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.

    • Lich King Reinhardt
    • Sin’dorei Symmetra
    • Diamond Magni Torbjorn

Xal’atath is the primary villain in Midnight. Once known as the Harbinger of the Void, she absorbed the power of the Void Lord Dimensius, becoming the new All-Devouring. Now, she’s targeting the Sunwell in World of Warcraft. While much more menacing than the Overwatch character Symmetra, she’s still visually striking in this new skin. Players can discover her origins and how she became such a dangerous foe by playing The War Within.
