The first part of Stranger Things Season 5 delivered exactly what fans hoped for. It was fantastic to watch the group from Hawkins fight against Vecna and his forces from the Upside Down. Although Henry Creel was beaten in Season 4, he came back even more powerful in the fifth season.

Eleven, Hopper, and the others all fought the evil in their own ways, but Will Byers was the real surprise in the fifth season. Considering he was the first to experience the horrors of the Upside Down, it made sense that he’d mostly stayed in the background. Now, though, the story has come full circle, and Will finally has the power to confront the monster that’s been tormenting him for so long.

Will Byers Finally Takes A Stand Against Vecna in Stranger Things Season 5

He Uses The Hive Mind To Defeat Demogorgons In A Very Vecna-Like Fashion

The first episode of season five revisits Will’s time trapped in the Upside Down. Through flashbacks, we learn that Vecna connected Will to a network called the Hive Mind. This network lets Vecna see and control the monsters of the Upside Down, experiencing everything through their eyes. By including Will in this network, Vecna could spy on the real world through Will – which explains how Vecna was able to use Will as a spy, as revealed in season two.

Initially, only Vecna could access Will’s mind through the Hive Mind. However, their connection has grown stronger over time. In Season 5 of Stranger Things, Will can now feel the pain of nearby Demogorgons and even see through their eyes. It’s as if he’s sharing the minds of these creatures.

Will initially saw his connection to the Hive Mind as a burden, which prevented him from using it to help his friends. But after a motivating conversation with Robin and some taunting from Vecna, he finally accepted who he was and took control of his abilities. He was able to tap into the same powers Vecna uses and command the Demogorgons, saving his friends from certain death. In a shocking display of power, Will brutally killed three Demogorgons, mirroring the way Vecna dispatched his victims in season four – breaking their limbs and then their necks. It was a truly impressive feat.

The Hunted Will Become The Hunter In Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2

Will Byers Will Possibly Use The Demogorgon Army Against Vecna

Up until now, the Demogorgons have been fighting on Vecna’s side, but that’s probably going to change in the final part of Season 5. Will has discovered he can use Vecna’s own powers to destroy the monsters from the Upside Down. However, the real turning point will be if Will learns to control the Demogorgons and turn them against Vecna. Vecna would be incredibly angry to see his own power used to dismantle his forces.

It’s going to be amazing to see Will step up and lead the fight against Vecna, especially with Eleven and Eight by his side. He’s endured so much because of this monster, and it feels right that he’s the one to finally defeat it. The frustrating part is we have to wait – Volume 2 of Stranger Things Season 5 comes out on December 25th, with the very last part arriving on New Year’s Eve.
