Descent Quest Guide in Assassin’s Creed Shadows X Attack on Titan

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Attack on Titan collaboration brings exciting new outfits and weapons to the game, along with a new quest called Descent. In this quest, after rescuing Ada, she’ll need help from Naoe and Yasuke to venture underground and save Gautwin from being used by Lord Albrecht. This walkthrough will guide you through the quest and show you how to unlock a special katana for Naoe as a reward.

Open the Barricaded Door in Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Descent Quest)

Once you’ve rescued Ada during the Beyond the Walls quest, follow her down the trap door to trigger a cutscene. After the cutscene ends, go through the crack in the wall near the tool refill station. Don’t forget to restock your tools here – you’ll need throwing knives for the next part of the game.

As soon as you leave the crack, you’ll see a small opening to a cavern on your left. Lower yourself to the ground as Naoe and crawl through it until you reach the other side.

Explore the caverns until you find a gap in the wall blocked by red, explosive barrels. Throw your knives at the barrels to destroy them and clear the way, allowing Yasuke to pass.

Don’t forget to open the chest by the hole in the wall – you’ll find a Training Corps Emblem Banner to decorate your hideout!

Find a Way to Reach Gautwin in Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Descent Quest)

Once you’ve destroyed the barrels, return to the main cavern. You’ll now find a new passage to the left. Continue through the cavern until you reach a blocked path covered in crystals. Just use Naoe’s weapons to break the crystals and continue on your way.

Continue along the path until you reach a shimmering crystal cave. Use your grapple to swing across the gap. Once you’re on the other side, use the mineral formations to climb onto the crystal wall in front of you and pull yourself up to the ledge. From there, you can climb the wall to reach the higher platforms.

Carefully walk across the wooden beams and enter the doorway. Follow the winding cave until you reach an opening with explosive barrels visible on the other side. Toss a knife at the barrels to detonate them, then return to the main crystal cavern. You’ll now find a new path across the beams that was previously blocked.

Next, you’ll cross a wide gap using a rope and then squeeze through a narrow space where you can overhear a conversation between Lord Albrecht and Ritter. This section is mostly about moving forward. Once you’re through, you’ll find yourself in a huge crystal cave that you’ll need to explore.

Follow the path shown in the image. First, use the crystalline wall to reach the chest below the platform – it contains the Garrison Banner, a cosmetic item for outdoor use. After you get the banner, retrace your steps back up the path and jump to the right to continue.

Further ahead, you’ll find some explosive barrels. Throw Naoe’s knives at them to destroy the crystal wall and clear the way forward. Continue along the path until you see two bodies; be sure to collect the important note they have.

Return to the main crystal cavern and use the grapple to reach the new path that has opened up. Follow this path until you find two enemies you can sneak up on and eliminate quietly. Then, continue up the path and enter a crack in the wall – you’ll find yourself in an underground crystalline cave, similar to the one Eren was once held captive in.

Rescue Gautwin & Lord Albrecht Boss Fight in AC Shadows

The underground crystal cave is the last part of the Descent quest in the Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Attack on Titan collaboration. Players must use their grappling hook to swing between platforms, defeat enemies, and finally reach Gautwin, who is chained up on a platform.

When you get to Gautwin, you’ll need to carefully time your grapple jump to reach his platform. If you miss, you’ll fall and have to try again. After freeing Gautwin, a cutscene will begin, switching the character you control from Naoe to Yasuke, who will then fight Lord Albrecht and his followers.

The Lord Albrecht boss fight is fairly simple. First, focus on eliminating the surrounding enemies, particularly those attacking from a distance. After clearing those out, you can defeat Lord Albrecht himself by using a mix of well-timed parries and your character’s special abilities.

Defeating Lord Albrecht triggers a cutscene and a thrilling chase. You’ll need to escape a giant titan while navigating the crystal cave. Successfully leaving the cave completes the Descent quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows x Attack on Titan, and you’ll earn the Cavern Shard katana as a reward.
