Say Hello Boruto’s New Power System Even Stronger Than Karma

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Over the past few years, the Boruto series has delivered many exciting developments and introduced a range of new abilities, thanks to the combined efforts of Kishimoto and Ikemoto. One of the most fascinating new powers revealed early in the series is Karma. Essentially, Karma is the DNA of an Otsutsuki clan member imprinted onto a human, which gradually overwrites their body and transforms them into a host for these otherworldly beings.

The series has recently introduced a new power system that might be even more powerful than the Otsutsuki’s Karma. This new system is called Tailed Beast Incarnation. As shown in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Tailed Beasts can now fully inhabit human bodies, becoming significantly stronger than traditional Jinchuriki. In fact, the strongest of these incarnated Tailed Beasts, like Jura, appears to be more powerful than even an Otsutsuki.

Boruto Has Replaced The Jinchuriki System Forever

In the Boruto series, the Tailed Beasts haven’t played a major role. So far, we’ve only seen three: Gyuki appeared briefly in the Boruto movie, Kurama spent a considerable amount of time with Naruto, and the Ten-Tails continues to be important. Since no other Tailed Beasts have shown up, it’s clear they aren’t as central to the story as they once were.

The Fourth Hokage asked me to watch over Naruto, and we grew close. Now, Naruto can actually use my energy. The Fourth sealed me inside him specifically to defeat you. — Kurama to Madara Uchiha

The tailed beasts aren’t just disappearing; the whole way their power worked is changing too. In the world of Boruto, the role of jinchuriki – people who host tailed beasts – is becoming obsolete. Instead, tailed beasts are now reborn as humans, as we saw with Jura, who is essentially the new form of the Ten-Tails.

Jura stands out from all other Shinju in the Boruto series, possessing power far beyond any of them. The story has confirmed that Jura is even more powerful than Isshiki, and is practically immortal.

Himawari Is Kurama’s Tailed Beast Incarnate

Similar to how Jura was introduced, the series Boruto has revealed Himawari, the daughter of Naruto and Hinata, as a powerful being connected to a Tailed Beast. At first, fans believed she simply hosted Kurama, but it’s now clear she is the Tailed Beast incarnate. This means Kurama won’t have a Jinchuriki host anymore.

Himawari, pay attention. You don’t have the power of a Jinchuriki. Actually, your abilities are more like Jura’s. It’s a completely different kind of power. — Kurama to Himawari Uzumaki, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

This suggests Himawari will likely be the most powerful wielder of Kurama’s abilities, even surpassing Naruto. She’ll have greater control over Kurama’s chakra than anyone else, making her overall stronger than previous users.

All Tailed Beasts Could Have Their Own Incarnates In The Future

The power system introduced in the Boruto series is giving the Tailed Beasts a bigger role in the story. Now that Boruto has a connection to Kurama, it’s likely we’ll see other Tailed Beasts develop similar connections as well.

If Killer B ever had a child, it’s likely they would inherit the power of his Tailed Beast, Gyuki. This same thing could happen with any of the other Tailed Beasts, potentially making them reborn as humans with increased strength and a bigger role in the story.

This could be a fantastic way for Kishimoto to re-connect the Tailed Beasts to the story’s core and please fans. While the idea of Tailed Beast Incarnates seems a little confusing right now, we can expect more explanations to be revealed over time, which will likely help fans understand and accept the concept.

Honestly, there’s still so much mystery around this new idea in Boruto, and I’m really hoping the author dives deeper into it soon! I’m dying to know all the hidden details and, more importantly, why they decided to go this route instead of sticking with the Jinchuriki system. It feels like there’s a big payoff coming, and I can’t wait to see what it is!

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the continuation of the Boruto story, created by Mikio Ikemoto and with supervision from Masashi Kishimoto. The series picks up three years after the events of the ‘Omnipotence’ arc, and focuses on Boruto Uzumaki’s efforts to protect the world alongside his brother, Kawaki. Chapter 29 is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2025, at 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
