A New Persona Crossover May Be in the Works

A surprising new crossover involving the Persona series is on the way. While Persona characters have appeared in other games before, this upcoming collaboration looks to be something completely different.

2026 is shaping up to be a big year for the Persona series, celebrating both its 30th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of Persona 5. Fans are eagerly awaiting news about Persona 6, but Atlus and Sega haven’t shared many details yet. While we wait for information on the next main Persona game, it looks like a new spin-off title based on Persona 5 is currently in development.

Persona and Fitness Boxing Collide

A potential crossover between the Persona and Fitness Boxing games is generating buzz after a mysterious teaser appeared on Fitness Boxing‘s Japanese Twitter account. The teaser features a conversation styled like Persona 5, where one character asks what another is preparing for. The reply hints at a unique training regimen, and a final line strongly suggests that physical strength is key to being a “Phantom Thief” – the group from Persona 5. Fans believe the second speaker is likely Morgana, the feline companion and guide from the game, based on the dialogue and style. This indicates a collaboration that focuses on getting the Phantom Thieves in shape!

Okay, so Nintendo dropped this little hint on Twitter, and it’s got me SO excited! It didn’t say a ton, but it looks like we’re probably getting a Fitness Boxingstyle game, but with characters from Persona 5 as our trainers! I’m really hoping they include the awesome music from the original games too. It feels like we won’t have to wait long for a full announcement. They just launched a new website to celebrate Persona*’s 30th anniversary, and the first update is coming on January 8th. Considering when that tweet popped up, I’m betting that’s when we’ll finally get the official reveal!

Persona and Fitness Boxing are No Stranger to Crossovers

The collaboration between a fitness game like Fitness Boxing and Persona might seem surprising, but both franchises have a history of crossovers. Fitness Boxing, which began in 2018, has already partnered with popular series like Fist of the North Star and Hatsune Miku. Persona 5 has also expanded beyond its original form with releases like Persona 5 Royal, and spin-off games including Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5 Tactica, and Persona 5: The Phantom X. Plus, Persona 5 characters have appeared in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Overwatch.

Although many fans of the Phantom Thieves and Persona 5 are excited about a new game, some are starting to feel overwhelmed by the number of spin-offs and crossovers. Some players would prefer to see the older Persona games revisited, while others are eager for a fresh start with Persona 6 and a new group of characters. Based on what’s been announced, it doesn’t seem like characters from earlier Persona titles will be included, which may disappoint long-time fans. However, until we get a complete official reveal, anything is still possible.
