Pokemon Fan Art Imagines 3 Brand-New Mega Evolutions

A creative Pokémon fan has designed new Mega Evolutions for Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash. These impressive concepts reimagine older Pokémon, giving them updated designs – including both standard and shiny versions – and even suggesting what Abilities they would gain after Mega Evolving.

For nearly 30 years, the Pokémon community has been one of the most imaginative and skilled groups of fans online. They’ve created an incredible amount of fan art, reimagining Pokémon with their own unique styles. Some fans design entirely new Pokémon, while others update classic ones. The creativity extends beyond art, with fans finding fun ways to incorporate Pokémon into their everyday lives – like one fan who transformed their Kindle into a Pokédex! As the Pokémon universe continues to expand with each new generation, there’s no limit to the inspiration for these talented fans.

These Pokemon Concepts Show Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash Could Look Like as Mega Evolutions

I was checking out Reddit, and this user, EliDwebster, posted some awesome Mega Evolution ideas for Drapion, Sunflora, and Whiscash! It’s cool because those three don’t really have anything in common, so the designs are all really different. Mega Drapion leans hard into the scorpion look, with these huge, bright green stingers and claws. They really made it pop! For Mega Sunflora, they focused on it growing even bigger – you can actually see the soil under its feet now. It’s even a Grass/Ground type, which makes sense. And Mega Whiscash? They gave it a much more striking design, especially with the bubbly additions on its tail. EliDwebster even showed off shiny versions of all three, which are just cool alternate color schemes. Seriously, check it out if you’re a Pokémon fan!

The artist carefully planned out what Abilities each Pokémon would gain after Mega Evolving, and shared their reasoning. For example, Mega Drapion would have the Ability Sharpness, increasing the power of slicing moves by 50%, because the move Cross Poison is strongly associated with it. Their concept for Mega Sunflora includes the Ability Triage, and they’ve given Mega Whishcash the Ability Galvanize, highlighting its defensive strengths.

Sunflora, Whiscash, and Drapion first appeared in the second, third, and fourth generations of Pokemon games, making them relatively old Pokemon now. Because of this, they’re often featured in fan-made projects. It’s easy to see why – while new Pokemon are exciting, fans have grown attached to older designs over the years. Often, fan art and other creations focus on Pokemon that players enjoyed when they first played the older games.

2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for Pokémon, as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary. Pokémon has already promised fans that it will be the “best year yet,” but specific plans are still under wraps. Many are hoping this milestone will be marked with the release of a new generation of Pokémon games – Generation 10. While we’ll have to wait and see what The Pokémon Company announces over the next year, it’s sure to be an exciting time for fans.
