The anime film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc was a major success in 2025, earning high praise (a 96% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes) and an Annie Awards nomination for Best Direction. It also performed very well at the box office, bringing in $174.7 million worldwide and becoming one of the highest-grossing Japanese films ever. The film’s popularity was further boosted by the hit song IRIS OUT by Kenshi Yonezu, which recently broke a record as the fastest-growing single for a solo artist, according to Oricon’s streaming and digital sales charts.
Kenshi Yonezu’s new song, “IRIS OUT,” is another significant hit for both the Chainsaw Man series and for him personally. His previous Chainsaw Man opening theme, “Kick Back,” was the first Japanese-language song to earn a Platinum certification from the RIAA, and “IRIS OUT” has the potential to reach the same milestone with sales of over a million copies in the United States. Notably, “IRIS OUT” climbed higher on the Billboard Global 200 chart (reaching number 5) than “Kick Back” (which peaked at 13). Both songs were number one hits in Japan, topping both the Japan Hot 100 and Billboard Japan’s Japan Hot Animation charts.
Chainsaw Man’s IRIS OUT Breaks The Record For Most Listens In The Fastest Amount Of Time At 303 Million Plays

Kenshi Yonezu’s music is incredibly popular, and his song “IRIS OUT” proves it. Released on September 29, 2025, it quickly gained over 3 million listens in less than four months – just 16 weeks of streaming. This is particularly remarkable considering the movie Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc premiered in Japan on September 19, 2025, and wasn’t available internationally until October 4, 2025. It’s even more impressive when you factor in the film’s release on digital platforms starting December 9, 2025.
The Chainsaw Man movie isn’t currently available on streaming platforms, but when it becomes available for free on services like Crunchyroll, the song “IRIS OUT” is likely to become even more popular. While the movie adaptation of the Reze Arc didn’t earn as much money as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, positive reviews and word-of-mouth suggest “IRIS OUT” could stay at the top of the music charts for several months and potentially break records.
What’s truly remarkable is that this was the first film based on Chainsaw Man, and it performed better than any recent Dragon Ball movie. That’s a significant accomplishment, showing how quickly Chainsaw Man is gaining popularity and building a dedicated fanbase. Plus, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is getting a lot of attention for its amazing animation, art style, and visuals, even sparking Oscar buzz. Winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc Is Officially In Production, Which Means New Music From Kenshi Yonezu & A New Chance To Break More Records
After the movie Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc did well, MAPPA officially announced that the Chainsaw Man anime would be back at last year’s Jump Festa. Season 2 will cover the International Assassins Arc, and likely finish out the first part of the story. Considering Kenshi Yonezu has already created two hit songs for Chainsaw Man, it’s very likely he’ll contribute a third single for Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc. Based on his past success, it’s almost certain his new song will reach #1 on Japan’s Billboard chart and land in the Top 10 – or even the Top 5 – on the Billboard Global chart.
There’s no official release date for the Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc anime yet, but 2027 seems like a reasonable estimate, considering how heavily MAPPA works its animators. While MAPPA is off to a good start in 2026, and the Reze Arc movie just came out, the second season might not arrive until 2028. However, with the manga’s final battle underway, releasing the anime sooner would be ideal to coincide with the manga’s progress and boost sales. Chainsaw Man is currently incredibly popular, so MAPPA would risk losing momentum – and depriving fans of another great song by Kenshi Yonezu – by delaying the anime for too long.
