Final Fantasy 14 Hosting Free Login Campaign

Players who haven’t played Final Fantasy 14 recently have a chance to jump back in for free! Square Enix is offering a limited-time campaign that gives inactive players a few days of playtime to check out the newest content.

The recent return of free logins for Final Fantasy 14 came at a difficult time for the game. Since late 2025, Final Fantasy 14 has been repeatedly targeted by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, specifically aimed at its North American servers. These attacks worsened after the release of the final, most challenging version of the Arcadion raid on January 6th, with players reporting over a dozen disruptions and disconnects. These server problems hindered players’ performance in the new raids, and some teams even lost opportunities to win boss battles because of the attacks. Fortunately, the attacks mostly stopped by January 8th, after several raid teams successfully completed the challenging Arcadion raids.

Unsubscribed Final Fantasy 14 Players Can Return to Eorzea for Free

With new content coming to Final Fantasy 14 in 2026, the game is offering a special promotion for returning players. If you haven’t played in at least a month, you can get back into the game for free for 96 hours! This lets you experience the latest story updates in Patch 7.4 and try out the new Arcadion raid. This offer is only for players without an active subscription, and the free time starts counting down as soon as you log in. You must claim your free time by 9:59 AM Eastern on Monday, February 9th. After that, you can continue playing by renewing your subscription through the Mog Station, with monthly plans starting at $12.99.

Final Fantasy 14 is offering free logins right now, and a special in-game event, Heavensturn, is also happening! Heavensturn is similar to the Lunar New Year and this year celebrates the Year of the Horse. Players level 15 or higher can get a unique minion, the Uma-no-Unicolt, by starting the “Seize The Neigh” quest with the Uma Bugyo NPC in Limsa Lominsa. These holiday quests don’t last forever, but most players can finish them in about 15 to 30 minutes. The event runs until January 15th.

What’s Next for Final Fantasy 14 in 2026?

Final Fantasy 14 will receive several updates with new content before the North American FanFest in April, where the game’s next expansion is expected to be announced. The first of these, Patch 7.41, will improve existing features like Cosmic Exploration, Cosmic Tools, and Phantom Weapons. This update will focus on the planet Oizys as the next destination for the Cosmic Exploration campaign, offering new rewards for players who craft and gather resources. Square Enix hasn’t announced a specific release date for Patch 7.41, but it’s expected to launch very soon.

After the 7.41 update, the next patch for Final Fantasy 14, version 7.45, is expected to arrive in about a month. This update will continue the Hildibrand story from the Dawntrail expansion and introduce a new challenging dungeon called The Merchant’s Tale. The final big update for Dawntrail, Patch 7.5, is planned to launch shortly after the North American FanFest event. As Final Fantasy 14 prepares for its next expansion, it remains to be seen where Square Enix will take the story, and how many players will return to the game after experiencing Patch 7.4.
