Capcom will be holding a Resident Evil showcase on January 15, 2026. A short preview video suggests the showcase will heavily feature Resident Evil Requiem, offering fans a deeper look at the game from the developers and a glimpse of gameplay before its release on February 27.
Capcom first hinted at Resident Evil Requiem in July 2024, but the game’s official announcement trailer premiered at Summer Game Fest 2025. This trailer introduced Grace Ashcroft as the new lead character and confirmed the game would return to the iconic setting of Raccoon City. Since then, several trailers have been released, culminating in a debut at The Game Awards 2025 that officially confirmed the return of Leon Kennedy, a fan-favorite character who was the subject of much speculation and leaks in the months leading up to the reveal.
Resident Evil Showcase Confirmed for January 15, 2026

Capcom recently released a short teaser trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase, giving fans a quick 10-second look at the new game. The footage primarily featured Leon Kennedy fighting a zombie with a chainsaw in what appears to be a laboratory. It seems Leon will have the ability to block melee attacks, similar to the feature in Resident Evil 4 Remake. The teaser also showed a brief glimpse of first-person shooting, suggesting a return to the aiming-down-sights mechanic not seen in Resident Evil 7 and Village.
The director of Resident Evil Requiem, Koshi Nakanishi, briefly appeared in the teaser trailer for the Resident Evil Showcase, hinting that the showcase will include interviews with the game’s creators. This will likely be the first time the Resident Evil Requiem team has publicly discussed Leon Kennedy’s return since it was announced in December 2025. It’s notable because Capcom previously insisted Leon wouldn’t be in the game at all. During a Capcom Spotlight in June 2025, they even said he didn’t fit the horror theme and repeatedly denied his involvement from the game’s initial announcement up until December.
Players might soon learn why Capcom kept Leon Kennedy’s return a secret. There’s also speculation that the game will showcase how Leon and his fellow protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, play differently. The buzz is that Leon’s parts will be fast-paced and action-packed, similar to the Resident Evil 4 Remake, while Grace’s sections will lean towards the slower, more terrifying style of Resident Evil 7.
It’s worth pointing out that the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase appears to be entirely dedicated to Resident Evil Requiem, despite the name suggesting a broader look at the franchise. The teaser trailer only features gameplay from Requiem, and the voiceover specifically calls it a showcase for Resident Evil Requiem. This is different from past showcases – for example, Capcom clearly announced in 2022 that they would be showing Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, and other content.
Despite everything, there’s a possibility we’ll see another Resident Evil game revealed at the January 15th showcase. While Capcom hasn’t officially announced any new Resident Evil projects, reliable sources like Dusk Golem have suggested that remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica are currently being developed.
