Battlefield 6 Season 2 Delayed

Battlefield Studios has pushed back the release of both Battlefield 6 and the second season of REDSEC. The new launch date for Battlefield 6 Season 2 is February 17th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. To keep players engaged, the studio will release an update on January 20th that adds new content to the current Season 1, bridging the gap until Season 2 arrives.

When Battlefield 6 launched in October, it quickly became more popular than expected. The first major update, Season 1, arrived shortly after to keep that excitement going, adding a Battle Pass, a new map, and fresh weapons. It even included a free-to-play Battle Royale game called Battlefield REDSEC, which many people already knew was coming. However, the success of ARC Raiders and some disappointment with updates after launch caused Battlefield 6 to lose 85% of its players on Steam. Fortunately, the team at Battlefield Studios seems dedicated to improving the game. They’ve delayed the release of Season 2 to polish things and make sure the upcoming update reflects what players want.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Season 2 Delayed to February 17

While Season 2 of Battlefield 6 and REDSEC was initially expected to arrive later this month – with Season 1 planned to end on January 20th – Battlefield Studios has announced a new launch date of February 17th. The studio explained that this delay will give them more time to improve Season 2 based on player feedback.

Battlefield fans will have to wait an extra five weeks for Season 2, but Battlefield Studios is releasing an update on January 20th to keep players engaged. This “extension update” includes new weekly challenges and continues the Season 1 Battle Pass, along with a new Bonus Path called Frostfire, launching January 27th. Frostfire offers free and premium customization items like weapon packages and soldier skins, plus XP boosts, as you progress. You can complete the Frostfire Bonus Path at the same time as the Season 1 Battle Pass, and all progress is earned through Weekly Challenges – there are no separate Bonus Challenges required.

The studio announced that Valentine’s Day will be celebrated in-game with daily login rewards and double XP weekends during the update. They’re also working on improvements and bug fixes with the January 20th update, though specific details about those changes will be released later.

Battlefield Studios plans to keep using Battlefield Labs to give players a sneak peek at upcoming updates as they’re nearly finished. According to the studio, both extending Season 1 and using Battlefield Labs will pave the way for more great content in future seasons, including what’s planned for Season 2. While details about Season 2 are still under wraps, Battlefield Studios will share more in February, along with a broader look at plans for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC in the coming months.
