The start of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was amazing! Viewers who hadn’t seen the movie or read the manga were in for a big surprise. The first two episodes were exceptionally well-made, and if they’re anything to go by, this season is shaping up to be one of the best anime releases of 2026.

The season kicked off with two episodes largely centered around the battle between Yuta and Yuji, and the ongoing Culling Game. We also met Naoya Zenin, a powerful sorcerer from the Zenin clan, who showcased his incredible strength.

A key moment in the recent episodes was the battle between Yuta and Yuji. Towards the end of the second season, Yuta came to Japan on orders from Jujutsu High’s leaders, who wanted to eliminate Yuji Itadori. For years, Gojo Satoru had protected Yuji, but after being sealed away by Kenjaku, the school’s administration was free to act. They then gave the order to kill Yuji, and word of this plan quickly spread – even reaching someone like Naoya Zenin.

Yuta searched for Yuji for a long time, and once he found him, he relentlessly pursued him. Despite Yuji’s efforts to get away, Yuta was simply too strong. The chase ended with Rika’s arrival. She temporarily paralyzed Yuji, allowing Yuta to stab him. Afterwards, Yuta went to find Naoya and rescued him from Choso. Yuta then told Naoya that Yuji was dead and asked him to inform Jujutsu High’s leadership about it.

It soon became clear that Yuta hadn’t actually killed Yuji. Instead, when he stabbed Yuji, he used a special energy technique to heal him. Yuji was shocked and wanted to understand why Yuta had acted that way. Yuta then explained how he’d first met Gojo Satoru, who had tasked him with keeping Yuji safe. After sharing this, Yuta, Yuji, and Choso went to find Tsukumo and Maki to begin the next step of their plan: meeting with Tengen.

The third episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, titled “About the Culling Game,” will premiere on January 15th, 2026. This episode will center around the Culling Game itself. Previously, Megumi explained to Yuji that Noritoshi Kamo created the Culling Game and that Tsukimi was compelled to join. Learning about Tsukimi’s situation, Yuji decided to offer his help.

Episode 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will explain the rules of the Culling Game in more detail and introduce some of the players. We’ve seen eight rules so far, but they haven’t been fully explained. The next episode should provide a clearer understanding. Because Noritoshi Kamo is running the game, it’s sure to include many of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most powerful characters. Itadori and his friends urgently need to learn everything they can about the tournament.

Yuji and his friends have arrived where Tengen is, and they plan to question him about the Culling Game. They’re also hoping to learn how to free Gojo Satoru from the Prison Realm. While Yuji would usually focus on helping his teacher first, the Culling Game is now his priority because Tsukimi’s life is at stake.

You can watch Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 3 on Crunchyroll shortly after it airs in Japan. The episode will initially be available with Japanese audio and English subtitles. While a dubbed version is planned, Crunchyroll hasn’t announced a release date yet, though it’s expected sometime between January and March 2026.
