A widespread internet outage is impacting several major providers and services across the US, including Amazon Web Services, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. While Verizon has acknowledged the issue, the outage is also affecting services that rely on AWS and other companies.
Users began reporting problems with Verizon’s mobile service around noon Eastern time on Wednesday, January 14th. By 12:41 PM Eastern, over 175,000 users had reported issues, with an additional 485 reports specifically for Verizon’s FIOS internet service. AT&T and T-Mobile also experienced widespread outages, with each reporting over 1,800 disruptions nationwide. Many users saw their mobile phones display “SOS Only,” preventing them from making calls or sending texts as usual.
As of today, many customers in the US were still experiencing service disruptions. Verizon acknowledged the issues on social media and said their engineers are working to fix them quickly. T-Mobile reported their service is back to normal, but customers might not be able to connect with people using Verizon. AT&T, AWS, and Xfinity haven’t made any public statements about the problem yet.

We’re following this breaking news story and will provide updates as soon as services are back to normal for everyone affected.
