Amazon Prime’s God of War series has its Kratos.
Ryan Hurst will star as Kratos in the new series, the company revealed on Wednesday. The show is still in early development, and more actors are being cast.
Tommy Hurst is an actor known for playing Opie Winston in the TV series Sons of Anarchy and Gerry Bertier in the movie Remember the Titans. He also voiced the character of Thor in the video game God of War Ragnarok, and received a BAFTA nomination in 2022 for his performance as Thor.
There’s a possibility that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is being considered to play Thor in a new series. The show will be based on the Norse mythology featured in the 2018 God of War game and its sequel, Ragnarok.
The story of God of War centers on Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they travel to scatter the ashes of a loved one, Faye. Throughout their journey, Kratos attempts to guide Atreus in becoming a worthy god, while Atreus, in turn, tries to help his father rediscover his humanity.

The series has been renewed for a second season before the first one even starts production, and filming is anticipated to begin in February. The first two episodes will be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, known for his work on shows like The Boys and Fallout.
There’s been no word on when the series will debut.
