This article contains spoilers from the Final Saga of One Piece.
The story of One Piece is always expanding, with creator Eiichiro Oda regularly sharing new mysteries and powers with fans. The manga is currently focused on the Elbaf Arc, which has revealed many exciting details and touched on important legends, like the rumored Devil Fruit of Elbaf. Fans have also learned that Nika, the Sun God, plays a significant role in the history of the people of Elbaf.
Beyond the well-known legend of Nika, the people of Elbaf also tell stories of other powerful beings they either revere or dread. The latest chapter of One Piece introduced one of these figures, and it seems this new Mythical Zoan god might even be stronger than Nika, leaving fans eager to learn more.
Nika Is A Broken Mythical Zoan Ability That Debuted In Wano
- Nika is the Sun God and the Warrior of Liberation
- Nika always comes during the peak of oppression
Fans first learned about the Sun God Nika through the character Who’s Who during the Wano Country arc. While imprisoned, Who’s Who was shown praying to Nika, just like the other slaves. Later, as Luffy battled Kaido, more about Nika’s true nature was revealed. After Luffy was defeated in the fight, his Devil Fruit awakened, as his body and spirit had finally reached the level needed to unlock its full potential, and in that moment, Nika manifested.
It was revealed that Luffy’s Devil Fruit wasn’t the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This incredibly powerful fruit allowed Luffy to reach a new level of strength after awakening. His physical abilities were dramatically enhanced, and he gained a fluid, adaptable fighting style. Combining this with Armament Haki and his Supreme King Haki, Luffy became nearly unbeatable. Most impressively, Luffy could even make his imagination a reality. This power of imagination comes with being Nika, making him a terrifying opponent in battle.
Loki’s Mythical Zoan Fruit Is Godly In Nature
- Nika Isn’t The Only God In One Piece
- Loki’s Powers Are Feared All Over The World
Nika is incredibly powerful, and we’ll likely see even more of what they can do in the future. However, fans now know about another potentially even stronger Mythical Zoan user: Loki, after consuming the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf in chapter 1170 of One Piece. This fruit hasn’t been eaten for centuries, not because of a lack of interest or a specific chosen one, but simply because no one could defeat Ragnir, who has guarded it for so long.
This Devil Fruit wasn’t held back for safekeeping. No one has ever been worthy enough to be acknowledged by Ragnir. But now, with these abilities, I can… — King Harald to Loki
I watched as even Harald, a remarkably strong individual, refused to touch this Devil Fruit. It really highlighted just how exceptional Loki was, even before consuming it. After he ate it, Loki underwent a truly monstrous transformation – it definitely seemed like a Mythical Zoan type Devil Fruit. Oda kept the full form shrouded in silhouette, but we still got a clear look at the incredible powers it granted him.
Loki defeated Harald in battle, and this version of Harald was incredibly powerful—potentially the strongest character in the series besides Imu, and even stronger than Rocks.
Loki decisively defeated Harald in battle, ultimately sparing him after overwhelming him. This demonstrates that Loki’s Mythical Zoan transformation—which is probably a God-type Devil Fruit—is currently more powerful than Nika’s.
Loki Transformation Might Be Even Stronger Than Luffy’s Nika
- Loki isn’t Nika, but he could be stronger than Luffy’s Nika form
Ever since this story arc started, people have been debating whether Luffy or Loki is more powerful, and it’s often seemed like either one could win. When Loki was fully revealed in Elbaf, it became clear he had the power to destroy the world if he were let loose. This made him seem as dangerous as an Ancient Weapon, leading many to believe he was stronger than Luffy.
Initially, fans didn’t realize Luffy thought he could defeat Loki and re-imprison him, even after sensing Loki’s power. This led many to believe Loki wasn’t as strong as Luffy, a belief reinforced by Shamrock, who considered himself superior to Loki. However, once fans saw Loki’s full capabilities, it became clear he’s significantly more powerful than Luffy currently is.
Fourteen years ago, Loki defeated Harald, establishing himself as stronger than both Harald and Rocks at that time. Currently, Luffy isn’t at that power level, meaning his Nika ability, despite its strength, isn’t a match for Loki’s powerful Mythical Zoan ability. However, it’s important to remember that Luffy’s Nika ability is still developing. As the story progresses, it will likely grow, and he may eventually surpass even Loki in strength.
It’s expected that Luffy will ultimately defeat Imu, so he’ll need to reach a similar power level. Considering how strong Loki is, he won’t surpass Luffy by the story’s end. This means Luffy’s powers, specifically those of Nika, will need to continue developing throughout the final arc to allow him to achieve this.
Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The story is currently in its final arc. A new chapter, number 1171, will be released in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It will be available on January 18, 2026, at 12:00 AM Japan Standard Time (11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time). Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app, which helps support the creator.
