Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Is Setting Up Yuji Itadori’s Darkest Role Yet, And Fans Are Scared

This article contains spoilers from the JJK Modulo manga.

Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are thrilled with the new season 3 and the ongoing release of JJK Modulo chapters. Created by Gege Akutami, the series is incredibly popular – possibly the most popular right now – and continues to deliver new content even after the main manga finished.

Fans are more focused on the upcoming JJK Modulo than JJK Season 3, largely because of how different Yuji Itadori appears. The story jumps forward 62 years, and Yuji has undergone a significant change. While his new, darker look with the scar and hood is visually striking, it’s also making fans worried about what’s happening to him.

  • Yuji Itadori has changed.
  • Yuji Itadori isolated himself.

Recent chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo have consistently portrayed Yuji Itadori as brooding and intense. Though we haven’t seen his full face yet in the sequel, the combination of his scar and hooded appearance creates a distant and unwelcoming impression. This new, darker Yuji feels much more toughened and emotionally closed off compared to how he used to be.

Yuji’s significant emotional shift stems from his inability to age. As his friends and family grow older and eventually pass away, he remains unchanged, perpetually young. This has led to a heartbreaking cycle of loss, as he’s repeatedly forced to grieve the deaths of loved ones. The only way to end this suffering, it seems, is for someone vastly more powerful to defeat him.

Given everything Yuji has experienced, his increasing distance from others feels both natural and expected. This wasn’t a sudden shift; it happened gradually as he dealt with one painful loss after another. He’s stopped reaching out for connection and is now trying to cope on his own, a tendency made worse by the immense responsibility of protecting the world. That pressure is simply pushing him further into isolation.

Yuji Itadori’s New Power Comes at a Huge Cost

Saving the World Is Yuji’s Heaviest Burden

  • Yuji Itadori is the new strongest sorcerer in JJK.
  • Japan’s last line of defense is Yuji Itadori.

In JJK Modulo, Yuji’s growth directly impacts the world around him. The series shows that modern sorcerers aren’t as powerful as those from previous generations. Currently, no one has reached the level of strength seen in characters like Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, or Maki Zenin, which leaves the Jujutsu world open to extremely dangerous threats like Sukuna.

It’s clear that sorcerers are becoming weaker, leaving the fate of the world and the fight against dangerous villains to Yuji Itadori – the only one powerful enough to face them. Yuji is undeniably the strongest sorcerer in the JJK universe, having overcome trials that would have broken anyone else and grown even more powerful as a result. In fact, the Japanese government depends on him as their final hope for protection.

The world is counting on Yuji, but he seems withdrawn and doesn’t appear concerned about the growing threat of Simurians in Japan. While the Jujutsu council wants him to directly confront Dabura, Yuji is isolating himself, almost as if he’s lost his desire to protect everyone. Despite his incredible power, he seems to have lost the will to fight.

The World May Have to Survive Without Yuji Itadori

The latest chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo focus on two main battles: Tsurugi versus Maru, and Dabura against Mahoraga. While Yuji Itadori isn’t currently appearing, we’ve seen him in flashbacks, particularly within Tsurugi’s backstory, showing his encounter with Iori Okkotsu before he went missing.

It’s understandable that Yuji will likely be absent for a while in JJK Modulo. His role might be to influence the story from the sidelines – his absence can be just as powerful as if he were actively fighting. He doesn’t need to be directly involved to make a difference.
