Resident Evil: Requiem Showcase Reveals New Leon Gameplay

Capcom recently showed off gameplay from the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, which will be released on February 27, 2026. The footage heavily features Leon Kennedy’s return, and his gameplay is expected to appeal to fans of Resident Evil 4.

The presentation kicked off with game director Koshi Nakanishi playfully suggesting he hadn’t ruled out Leon’s appearance, before detailing the gameplay styles of the game’s two main characters, Leon and Grace. Grace’s sections will emphasize horror, reminiscent of Resident Evil 2 and 7, while Leon’s gameplay will be more action-packed, similar to his role in the original Resident Evil 4 from twenty years ago. The showcase then featured footage of Leon expertly fighting zombies – kicking, shooting, and slashing – and highlighted a new hatchet weapon he can use to deflect attacks.

The game will continue Leon Kennedy’s story after the events of Resident Evil 6. Developers hinted that this installment will really test his abilities, and players should pay close attention to how his journey unfolds.

Other Announcements in the Showcase

The recent showcase announced the game will launch on PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, and Nvidia GeForce Now. Players who prefer a more relaxed experience will also have access to a casual difficulty setting.

During the presentation, they highlighted the Porsche Leon drives in the game, as well as some of the in-game watches. They then reviewed the extra content players can expect, showed off a special Nintendo Switch 2 controller, and hinted at upcoming Amiibo figures.

If you’re a fan of Resident Evil on TopMob, keep an eye out for potential remakes of Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0, which may be released in the next few years.
