As a Hytale fan, I’ve learned that ‘Lightwood’ is just what the game calls brightly colored wood! It’s not some super-rare, enchanted stuff – it’s actually pretty easy to find. But with a world as huge as Orbis, you still need to know where to look and which trees to chop down if you want to gather it. The good news is, Lightwood is way easier to get than a lot of the other resources in the game, which is a relief!
Where to Find Lightwood in Hytale
Birch is one of the first types of Lightwood players will encounter. It’s commonly found in autumn-themed areas near the usual green meadows. You can spot these areas on your map by looking for red forests. Fortunately, autumn areas are about as safe as regular forests, so you don’t need to worry about equipping special gear before exploring them.
You can easily spot birch trees by their distinctive white bark and light green leaves. While they look similar to aspen trees (which also have light-colored bark), birch trees have green leaves, and aspen leaves are yellow or orange. Also, when crafting, remember that aspen trunks are considered a softwood, unlike lightwood.
Autumn areas are common and, similar to swamps, are frequently located next to forests. You’ll mainly encounter bears, spiders, and skeletons as enemies, but be prepared for Void creatures to appear at night.
You can also get Lightwood from logs found on the large Gumboab trees in desert areas. If you’re exploring the badlands, it’s a good idea to cut some of these trees down.
What’s Lightwood For?
To improve your Farmer’s Workbenches, you’ll need Lightwood, along with various vegetables and Essences of Life. As you continue upgrading, you’ll need different types of wood, so it’s a good idea to start gathering logs early if you plan on expanding your farming!
As a builder, I’ve found Lightwood is great because you can actually make the same basic building pieces with it as you do with Hardwood. The big difference? Lightwood gives you these really clean, white blocks, and the roof tiles are a cool grayish-blue color, which I think looks awesome!
