The rhythm-action game Hi-Fi Rush, previously only available on Xbox, might be coming to the Nintendo Switch. A recent age rating listing by PEGI suggests a Switch version of the game is in development.
The rhythm-action game Hi-Fi Rush surprised everyone when it was unexpectedly released on Xbox Series X/S after the 2023 Xbox Developer Direct. Critics loved it, and as of late 2023, it had earned an 89% average score on OpenCritic with 95% of critics recommending it. By August 2023, over three million people had played the game. In January 2024, Xbox announced it would start releasing games on more platforms, and Hi-Fi Rush was one of the first games they chose to test this new approach with.
The rhythm-action game Hi-Fi Rush was released on PlayStation 5 in March 2024 and was praised by critics. Surprisingly, just two months later in May 2024, Microsoft closed Tango Gameworks, the studio that created Hi-Fi Rush. Fortunately, in August 2024, Krafton acquired Tango Gameworks and the rights to the Hi-Fi Rush game.
Hi-Fi Rush Could Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
On January 15, 2026, the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) system listed Hi-Fi Rush again, but this time with Krafton as the publisher – separate from its usual listing under ZeniMax/Bethesda Softworks. The new listing doesn’t include any details about the game’s content, only that it’s available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Currently, Hi-Fi Rush isn’t available on Nintendo Switch, and there’s been no official announcement about a version being developed for the platform.
Okay, so I saw the news about Hi-Fi Rush getting rated for Switch and got hyped, but it’s not quite as straightforward as it seems. This actually happened before, back in April! They listed a Switch version on the PEGI ratings site, but it never actually came out. So, while this new rating is cool, I’m trying not to get too excited until we get official confirmation, because that previous listing turned out to be a false alarm.
The game’s age rating has been announced at the same time that physical copies of Hi-Fi Rush for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 are now available for pre-order.
This isn’t the first time a game originally made for Xbox has appeared on Nintendo Switch. In February 2024, Pentiment, which was the first Xbox game Microsoft released on other platforms, launched on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Switch. Then, in April 2024, another Xbox game, Grounded from Obsidian Entertainment, also became available on Nintendo Switch.
So, after Xbox brought a couple of games – Pentiment and Grounded – to the Switch, there was a ton of buzz when the new Switch 2 was announced. Everyone thought Microsoft might really go for it and get some big titles over there. Back in January 2025, Nate The Hate said we’d see Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator on the Switch 2, and I heard similar things from reliable sources like Jez Corden at Windows Central and Tom Warren over at The Verge. But here’s the thing: Hi-Fi Rush isn’t actually an Xbox game anymore – Krafton owns it now, so they’d be the ones deciding if it comes to the Switch.
The recent rating leak for Hi-Fi Rush only mentions a version for the original Nintendo Switch, not the newer Switch 2. Considering Hi-Fi Rush isn’t available on older consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, it’s doubtful the original Switch could run the game well. A Switch 2 version would be a better fit. It’s possible the game could first come to the original Switch and then be updated for the Switch 2, but that usually means separate ratings for each version.
