The Hideaway Walkthrough In Little Nightmares (Chapter 2)

In the latest chapter of Little Nightmares, the Kid has escaped from being tied up after being caught by the Janitor. Now, he needs to gather a group of adorable Nomes to help him move forward. Like the previous chapter, this one, called the Hideaway, has 5 hidden collectibles scattered throughout. Finding these is essential if you’re aiming to unlock a Trophy in Little Nightmares.

The Hideaway chapter begins with the Kid unwrapping themselves and landing on the ground. They are immediately approached by three Nomes, who quickly scatter and run off.

Turn right and walk around the room to make the Nomes come out of hiding. After two of them run through the gap in the door, check the box of coals by the door to find the last Nome. It will get wedged in the crack, so gently pull it out and give it a hug.

Throw the Nome at the handle to open the door, then throw it over the boxes across the room.

Jump to the other side and toss the Nome to the lever and unlock the gate.

Try pushing the box away from the hole to summon the Nome to help you push.

Go into the next room and find two more Nomes for the Kid. Check the top drawer of the overturned dresser – you’ll find a Nome inside.

After hugging it, throw both Nomes onto the table above so they push the box down.

Climb it and head left first to go through a window.

Open the first flotsam in the Hideaway chapter.

Go through the hole and jump up on the table again to release the imprisoned Nome.

Gather the Nomes and push the door together.

Okay, so I headed over to the coal mine and jumped up on that stool. Once I pulled the lever, this machine started up and all the Nomes began collecting coal and tossing it into the fire. It was pretty cool to watch!

Eventually, a ladder will lower on the left. Climb up that one, and then use a second ladder to get to the top floor.

Go behind the staircase and open the second flotsam.

Head upstairs and jump on the loose floor a couple of times to break it, which alerts the Janitor.

Sneak to the left, towards where the enemy is. The Kid then needs to move to the next room and operate a machine by pulling a lever, turning on a saw with a button, and rotating the lever again. After that, they can escape through the chute. If you’re aiming for the “Ashes in The Maw” trophy, things get trickier – you’ll have to do all of this while carrying a wooden Nome.

If you’re not trying to earn the Ashes of The Maw Achievement, you can safely skip the part about the wooden gnome.

After the Janitor looks away from the hole, climb inside and walk across the cloth towards the table.

When the Janitor heads towards the hole, climb the table and take the wooden Nome.

Hurry and duck into the corner to stay hidden until the enemy looks away. Then, sneak around the cloth and toss either the Nome or something close by to the other side – that should distract the Janitor.

Once he’s distracted, quickly climb onto the fabric and go through the window. Then, take the Nome and place it on the fabric close to the circular lever.

Sprint to the upper right corner and climb the table to pull the lever, activating the machine.

While the Janitor checks the left side, go to the other room and hit the button to start the saw. This will distract the monster and temporarily disrupt its hearing.

Dash to the room on the left and turn the lever to unlock the door. Then, drop the wooden figure down the opening and chase after it to get away from the Janitor.

Pick up the wooden Nome and go to the right. Set it down near the closed gate, then leave it there for a moment. Now, climb onto the table. You’ll see a Nome trapped in a jar on the shelf above. Jump repeatedly to make the trapped Nome fall and escape.

Hug the Nome and head left, then throw it onto the ladder to make it slide down.

If you’d like to explore more of the ship and see things like Six’s escape from the shoe sea, head upstairs and turn left. But it’s okay if you don’t!

Cross to the opposite side using the coal cart, then pull the lever to bring it down. After that, use the boxes to get back to where you started, and climb down the ladder.

Push the cart to the left and use it to climb the crate and go through the small window.

Dive into the coal pit and chase the Nome around to hug.

Throw the Nome up and make it pull the lever to activate the conveyor belt.

Stand on it to get momentum and jump to the hook and reach the other side.

Pull the lever to activate the other conveyor belt, forcing a Nome into the coal pit.

Jump into it again and chase the Nome to hug it.

Climb back up and throw the Nome to the lever to open the door and join all three Nomes together.

Pull the cart further to the left and use it to climb the shelves and open the third flotsam.

Go back down and drag the cart up the slope with the help of the three Nomes.

Continue heading right until you reach the bookcase. Then, climb up the shelves and crawl through the window on the right side.

Drop to the floor and pull the lever to open the gate.

Push the cart again with the Nomes, and it will speed down the slope and destroy the barred gate.

Take the wooden Nome and go to the closed hatch, then place it there. The other Nomes will gather there too.

Climb through the window and jump to the rope to reach the ground.

Turn left and pull the lever to open the hatch.

To earn the “Ashes in The Maw” trophy in Little Nightmares, you need to pick up the wooden Nome and throw it into the fire.

Now, let’s head to the right to collect more Nomes. Open the little hatch and give the first Nome a hug.

Tug the second Nome out of the coal cart it’s stuck in and hug it.

I climbed the ladder and pulled the lever to start the elevator, but then two batteries fell out, and one of them was dead.

Okay, so it’s really dark in here. You’ll definitely want to turn on your flashlight! Then, carefully crawl through the door on the right side – that’s where you’ll spot the Janitor way down at the end. Just a tip: try to avoid stepping on those coals on the floor, because they’ll let the enemy know you’re there!

Keep sneaking to the next room and go behind the staircase to see the fourth flotsam.

Go up the stairs and move faster when you hear one of the creaks, as the Janitor will come running.

Quickly use the hanging carts to reach the other side.

First, open the cabinet to find the files. Then, open the cabinet next to it to get a stool. Move the stool over to the first cabinet and use it to climb up to the shelves.

Proceed forward by swinging from the light bulb and then go through the window.

Climb down the bars and jump backward towards another window.

Drop down and pull open the drawers to make a way to climb up. Then, jump onto the shelf to find the battery that works.

Open the door by tossing the battery at the button, then carefully sneak back inside. Watch out for the janitor – just go around him – and be sure to avoid stepping on the coal spills.

Put the batteries in place, then take the small elevator up. When the three Nomes run off, be sure to give them a hug.

Go through the small opening and open the top drawer of the tipped-over blue filing cabinet to find two Nomes.

Follow the first one to the left and hug it.

The second one is to the right, and the Kid needs to chase it around a box and hug it.

Drag the moving cart to the right, close to the table where the third Nome is drawing.

Climb onto the table and hold onto the drawers to slide to the right. As soon as the cart begins to move, release the drawers and drop onto it. Then, jump from the cart to hug the Nome.

Before proceeding, climb the table near the blue cabinet again and go up the drawers to the top.

To unlock the “Is Anybody Out There” Achievement, turn left and open the fifth and last piece of wreckage in the Hideaway chapter.

First, use the three Nomes to pull the lever, which will partially open the door. Then, slide the box underneath the door to keep it from closing.

Return to the elevator and toss the Nomes onto it to go down.

Throw one Nome at the lever and open the door to regroup with the previous two Nomes.

Return to the coal machine area – there should be enough people working there. Use the carts to carefully make your way upwards, and then jump to the side to continue.

Try to move the big box only for a group of Nomes to come and help.

Continue into the warm room filled with Nomes until you reach an elevator where you’ll find the Lady. With this, you’ve finished The Hideaway chapter and unlocked the “End in Sight” Trophy.
