The director of Beyond Good & Evil 2 has reassured fans that the game’s development isn’t being impacted by recent changes within the company.
Last week, TopMob reported that Ubisoft’s long-running project, Beyond Good & Evil 2, is still in development despite recent company changes. Ubisoft later confirmed the game remains a key part of their plans, focusing on open-world adventure games.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 Game and Team Unaffected
Fawzi Mesmar, the director of Beyond Good & Evil 2, recently shared on LinkedIn that development of the game and his team haven’t been impacted by recent industry changes. He also expressed support for those affected by recent cancellations and studio closures, encouraging people to offer their assistance. You can find his full message below.
I’ve received a lot of messages from people about the recent news concerning Ubisoft, and I appreciate everyone reaching out.
My team and I, along with the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2, are continuing as planned despite the recent company changes. You can find details about the new organizational structure in the official press release.
I’m very sorry to hear about the recent cancellations impacting colleagues at Ubisoft and throughout the industry. It’s important that we all support each other during this difficult time. We’re still dedicated to creating an amazing game that our players will love.
Ubisoft recently reorganized its business, and as a result, the long-awaited Prince of Persia Remake and five other games have been cancelled. The company will now focus on creating large, open-world games and ongoing “Games as a Service” titles, organized through five different development teams. This change has already led to a noticeable drop in Ubisoft’s stock price.
The remake of Black Flag may be delayed by as much as a year due to recent changes at Ubisoft. The company also announced it wants to turn Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Rainbow Six into yearly franchises that each generate a billion dollars in revenue.
