During the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 on April 2nd, the much-anticipated announcement was made: The upcoming game, referred to as Mario Kart World or Mario Kart 9, is a follow-up to Mario Kart 8 from 2014, originally designed for the Wii U. Previously re-released on the original Nintendo Switch in 2017 as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it has since added numerous new tracks and many new characters to its roster.
But it’s time for a pit stop as we’re ready to go full throttle in Mario Kart World.
Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Announces Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World now allows for races involving as many as 24 players, a feature that was suspected following the initial hint in January. Additionally, it unveils fresh, dynamic tracks and an exciting new mechanic called rail grinding!
From the glimpses we’ve had of Mario Kart World footage so far, it’s clear that we’ll be spending countless hours immersed in Mario-themed tracks once more!
