Darling, Grayscale has slyly slipped a Form S-1 into the SEC’s gaze, declaring its intention to unveil the Grayscale HYPE ETF.
The product will track the price of HYPE (net of fees) and may also incorporate staking rewards, subject to conditions. The fund intends to be listed on Nasdaq and will carry the ticker GHYP. A splendid notion, if you enjoy a good futurist forecast with a side of paperwork.
Grayscale files S-1 for HYPE ETF

The move comes as Hyperliquid begins flirting with the more respectable corners of traditional finance. This very week, S&P Dow Jones Indices licensed the S&P 500 index to Hyperliquid-based Trade.xyz exchange for perpetual contracts on the DEX, making it the first such contract powered by institutional-grade index data. A euphemism for sophistication, no doubt, or simply a very expensive invitation to the party.
The decentralized cryptocurrency exchange has also been a keen spectator during the early gossip of the US-Israel-Iran fracas, serving as a prime source of oil pricing when weekend trading hours kept the grown-ups at home. Open interest on oil-related markets on Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 reportedly exceeded $1.4 billion. One must admit, even the oil market enjoys a good thriller on a Saturday night.
Of course, the S-1 filing is far from a guarantee of approval, but it does signal intent and allows regulators to begin their courteous inspection. If it’s approved, the GHYP ETF will provide traditional investors with a way to get exposed to the Hyperliquid ecosystem without having to dabble in crypto infrastructure at all-much like BTC and ETH ETFs do their lilting dance on Wall Street today.
