Xbox Executive Responds to ‘Rare’ Backward Compatibility Issues

Xbox’s VP has addressed concerns from players experiencing problems with the Xbox Backward Compatibility program. While the message offered hope for a quick fix, some gamers are still unhappy with the way the issue is being handled and are finding it difficult to get support.

Many Xbox fans are frustrated because they can’t play Xbox 360 games they already own on their Xbox Series X/S consoles. While backwards compatibility has been a popular feature, some players report being unable to access their older titles for weeks or months.

Xbox VP Responds to Backward Compatibility Problems

On April 22nd, Xbox reported that some players were having trouble playing certain Xbox 360 games on their Xbox Series X consoles. Jason Ronald, a VP at Xbox, followed up on April 28th, confirming the team was investigating. He explained that a small number of players were seeing an error message indicating a connection problem with Xbox Live when starting up these older games. Ronald asked affected players to contact him directly on Twitter to help gather more information and find a solution.

Some players are happy the problem is finally being addressed, but many remain upset. Several users noted a limitation: they can only message Ronald directly if he follows them, as direct messaging is otherwise reserved for X Pro subscribers. Ronald responded to some of these complaints personally, sending direct messages to those who pointed it out. He told others that the team had already collected a lot of information and was looking into the issue, and that he would contact them if they needed further details.
