Refurbished PlayStation 5 Slim consoles are now more expensive. As of May 1st, the version with a disc drive costs $549.99, up from $449.99, and the digital-only version is now $499.99, an increase from $399.99. These refurbished consoles previously offered a significant discount compared to buying new. Both versions include a 1TB SSD, all necessary cables, one DualSense wireless controller, and a manual, and may have slight cosmetic blemishes.
Even though refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles are cheaper than buying new ones, the cost is still a concern for budget-minded gamers. Sony increased PS5 prices in April: the standard model with a disc drive now costs $649.99, the Digital Edition is $599.99, and the PS5 Pro is $899.99. This is a significant jump from the original launch price in 2020, when the PS5 with a disc drive cost $499.99 and the Digital Edition was $449.99.
Good news for gamers: a refurbished original PlayStation 5 with a disc drive is still available for $399, making it the most affordable way to get into the PS5 family. While it has slightly less storage (825GB compared to the newer model’s 1TB), it’s a great option if you’ve been waiting for a price drop. Don’t wait too long, though – this deal likely won’t last!
