7 Black Clover Characters Who Deserved Better Endings

Although the manga series Black Clover has finished, many questions remain about its characters, including the main character, Asta. Currently, there are no confirmed plans for additional chapters or a sequel, but it’s still a possibility in the future.

The ending of Black Clover left many fans with complicated feelings. While most appreciated the happy conclusion, others felt certain characters didn’t get the endings they deserved. This was often due to character storylines feeling hurried or not meeting fans’ expectations.

Yami Sukehiro

Yami, the previous captain of the Black Bulls, is a fan-favorite character who got a satisfying conclusion to his story. The final chapter strongly suggests he and Charlotte got married. However, despite finding happiness in his personal life, some fans were disappointed by his choice to step down as a member of the Black Bulls.

Soon after Asta became Wizard King, Yami resigned. It wasn’t due to a loss of power or direction, but simply because he didn’t want to take orders from someone he used to mentor. While he supported Asta becoming Wizard King, Yami prefers independence and doing things his own way. Now, he’s looking forward to building a future with Charlotte Roselei, though many fans find it both strangely right and a little shocking to see him leave the Black Bulls.

Charmy Pappitson

A major surprise in the ending of Black Clover is the romantic relationship between Charmy Pappitson and Rill Boismortier, the captain of the Aqua Deer. They eventually marry and have seven children, which was a completely unexpected development for many fans.

Although fans are excited about the relationship between these two characters in Black Clover, there are still mysteries surrounding Charmy’s family history. The series hasn’t fully explained the dwarves – their traditions, their society, and how they use magic – which feels like a missed opportunity in building out the world of Black Clover. Many viewers also feel that Charmy’s character was mostly used for comedic effect, and that her more serious potential wasn’t fully realized.

Noelle Silva

Noelle is easily one of the strongest and most compelling female characters in Black Clover. Her journey is particularly impressive—she starts as someone weighed down by family expectations and self-doubt, but transforms into a confident and skilled magic knight who truly comes into her own.

Noelle and Asta’s relationship is a standout part of Black Clover. While many fans hoped they would become a couple, the series didn’t bring them together romantically, unlike some other characters who did end up together. Throughout the story, there were plenty of hints and emotional scenes suggesting a connection, but ultimately their relationship wasn’t fully developed in that way.

Mimosa Vermillion

Similar to the reaction to Noelle Silva’s story, many fans were disappointed with how Mimosa Vermillion’s arc concluded in Black Clover. The story left a lingering sense of rivalry between the two characters, especially regarding their feelings for Asta. The final scene showing Noelle and Mimosa standing together highlighted this unresolved tension, which some viewers felt was awkward and could have been resolved more effectively.

Honestly, as a fan, I was really hoping for a little more closure with Asta’s love life! It would have been so satisfying if either Mimosa or Noelle had just told Asta how they felt at the end. That whole love triangle was a big part of the story, and it felt a little unfinished without a clear resolution. I think seeing one of them be honest with their feelings would have been a much better ending for that storyline.

Leopold Vermillion

Leopold Vermillion is a surprisingly overlooked character in Black Clover, especially when compared to his well-known and powerful siblings, Mereoleona and Fuegoleon. Though he comes from a respected noble family and initially presented himself as a rival to Asta, Leopold didn’t get the same opportunities for development or impactful moments, which hindered his growth as a character.

It’s unfortunate Leopold didn’t get the chance to learn Ultimate Magic. Like Asta, he’s incredibly dedicated and deserves to reach his full potential, especially considering how hard he works and his natural talent. As a future leader of the Crimson Lions, he could have really grown with a more thorough understanding of his magical abilities.

Yuno Grinberryall

It’s no surprise that many fans of Yuno believe he’s better suited to become the Wizard King than Asta. Throughout Black Clover, becoming the Wizard King has always been Yuno’s dream, and his steady progress, maturity, natural talent, and leadership skills within the Golden Dawn have convinced many readers he’s the right choice.

Despite losing his final battle with Asta, Yuno’s rivalry with him was consistently strong and interesting throughout Black Clover. However, some viewers thought Asta won too easily, which lessened the impact of Yuno’s long-held dream of becoming the Wizard King.

Asta

Many fans of Black Clover are thrilled that Asta finally achieved his lifelong dream of becoming the Wizard King. He worked hard and overcame incredible odds to make it happen. However, despite his impressive victory over Yuno and the widespread respect he earned, some viewers believe Asta became Wizard King a little too quickly.

I’ve often wondered if there was a Wizard King before Asta who helped pave the way, giving him more time to grow into the position. Plus, there are so many mysteries still surrounding Asta’s past. We still don’t know who his father was, or exactly how he’s connected to Richita, and it feels like those answers are really important.
