New episodes of That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime usually come out on Fridays at 10:00 AM Eastern Time, but were delayed due to the Golden Week holiday. Season 4, Episode 5, titled “The First Step,” will be available on Crunchyroll starting May 8th, 2026, at 6:00 AM Pacific Time, 9:00 AM Eastern Time, and 2:00 PM GMT, with English subtitles. The English dub premiered on Friday, April 17th at 8:00 AM Pacific Time and 11:00 AM Eastern Time.

When a new episode of an anime is delayed, people often think the studio needs extra time for production. However, the break after episode 5 of season 4 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime was simply due to a national holiday. Golden Week is a string of public holidays in Japan that takes place from late April to early May, ending on the 6th.
I’ve learned that Golden Week in Japan is a full week long because of how their holiday system works. If a day falls between two other holidays, it automatically becomes a holiday too. This year, four holidays lined up one after another, so a lot of people are taking the whole week off. It’s called “Golden” Week because businesses see a big jump in customers and profits – everyone has time off and is looking for things to do!
