Carl Runefelt, aka Carl Moon (yes, the one with 650,000 subscribers who probably think he’s a financial wizard), has done the unthinkable in a bear market: he’s admitted that his words actually mean something. Shocking, I know.
In a chat with BeInCrypto, Carl and David Wulschner of Crypto Familie had a little heart-to-heart about creator responsibility. Spoiler alert: they didn’t agree on everything, but at least they didn’t dodge the question like it’s a tax bill.
Carl Moon: The Confession (No, Not the Scandalous Kind)
Carl didn’t beat around the bush. He’s aware his words have power. Like, actual power. Not the kind you get from eating spinach.
“I also know that if I say I buy something, people will buy it. Like, I’m not stupid. I just have a really convincing smile.”
He reflected on the 2021-2022 crypto frenzy, where altcoins he talked about went from “moon” to “dumpster fire” faster than you can say “HODL.”
“When the markets are pumping, it’s very easy to get carried away. And let’s be honest, that’s the kind of content that gets me those sweet, sweet views.”
His portfolio took a hit too, with some altcoins down 80, 90, or even 95%. But hey, at least he’s not promoting scams on purpose. That’s something, right?
“I never promoted a scam knowingly. I mean, I’m not a monster.”
Going forward, Carl’s swearing off tiny tokens-you know, the ones that made 2021 feel like a crypto Wild West.
Wulschner’s Epiphany (Or How He Stopped Being a Crypto Oracle)
David Wulschner had his “aha” moment earlier. After 50-60 videos of price predictions for tiny projects, he realized his audience was taking his words as gospel. Yikes.
“I just stopped because I saw people throwing money at these projects like it was confetti. And I was like, ‘Wait, I’m not Warren Buffett.’”
He ditched the predictions, started sharing his wallet addresses (brave soul), and decided to focus on education instead of hype.
“I hope I can teach people to think for themselves. And maybe, just maybe, stop them from blaming me when things go south.”
Both Carl and David agree: audience trust is everything. Even if that trust is sometimes misplaced.
The Moment of Truth (Or, How Carl Moon Got Real)
The real mic-drop moment? When Carl admitted he wasn’t exactly a crypto genius when he started his channel.
“Did I know more than anyone else when I started? Definitely not. I just had a good camera and a lot of confidence.”
This pretty much demolishes the idea that crypto YouTubers are infallible gurus. Surprise! They’re just people who got in early and have good lighting.
Why This Matters (Beyond the Drama)
Bear markets are like a truth serum for the crypto world. Altcoins are down, portfolios are bleeding, and suddenly everyone’s asking, “Who’s responsible for this mess?” Carl and David are two of the few creators actually willing to have this conversation. Kudos to them for not hiding behind their Lambos.
Neither of them claims to have all the answers. But they’re changing their game, and that’s more than most can say. In a world where confidence often trumps self-reflection, these guys are the exception. And that’s worth talking about.
