Reapers usually appear when players do something surprising during a fight. For example, The Drowner will spawn if you repeatedly end your turn without playing any cards. You might see a sign of this – if you finish a turn in the Vampire Crawlers area without playing an attack card, water will start to appear.
In Vampire Crawlers, you can make The Drowner appear by ending your turn four times in a row without playing any weapon cards.
How to Defeat The Drowner in Vampire Crawlers
In Vampire Crawlers, the Drowner is a powerful, large enemy. What makes it different from most bosses is that it doesn’t have the ‘eye’ mechanic – the system where enemies attack after you’ve played a certain number of cards. This allows players to finish their turns without worrying about immediate retaliation.
Because the fight with The Drowner takes place underwater, players will take damage from both the water and the enemy itself. At the end of each player’s turn, they’ll lose 10% of their total health due to the underwater environment. Then, The Drowner will attack, dealing an additional 12 points of damage.
The Drowner is a tough enemy, but players can defeat it by having enough armor or healing to withstand its continuous damage – it consistently deals 10% of your health as damage, plus a physical attack. If you can survive that, you’ll eventually wear it down and win.
