It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for BioShock 4. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the next installment in the popular BioShock series, but reports suggest its development hasn’t been smooth. Even Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, admits he’s frustrated with the lengthy delay.
In an interview with Stephen Totilo from Game File, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the development of BioShock 4. While he wasn’t surprised by the game’s lengthy development – he’s closely involved in the process – he admitted to being “deeply disappointed” with how long it’s taking. He explained that a true surprise would mean a sudden, unexpected shift, which isn’t how he manages the company.
He admitted they spent a lot of time and money exploring ideas for BioShock 4 that ultimately didn’t work out. He was open about the game’s difficult development process, noting that work began in 2019 and a significant amount of resources were invested.
Okay, so here’s some really cool news! I heard from Roy Lee, the producer of the upcoming BioShock movie on Netflix, that they’re actually planning to release it around the same time as the next BioShock game! Apparently, Netflix and Take-Two Interactive are both super excited about this timing, hoping the movie and game can boost each other when they both come out. As a huge fan, that sounds amazing – a full BioShock experience with both a movie and a new game around the same time!
Francis Lawrence, the director behind films like The Hunger Games and Constantine, will be directing the upcoming live-action BioShock movie.
