What is Eclipse in Saros?

The Carcosan Eclipse is a major event in Saros, deeply impacting the game’s world and how it plays. It’s not just a visual change; the eclipse also brings tougher enemies that can inflict Corruption. These enemies are more dangerous, reducing your health with each hit, but they also offer a greater reward: more Lucenite drops. Essentially, facing these challenges is a high-risk, high-reward scenario. This guide will cover all the changes brought about by the Eclipse in Saros.

How Does Eclipse Work in Saros?

While exploring each area, Arjun will find a pedestal with arms reaching out from its bottom. This is a key part of most levels, and activating it will turn the bright world a dark orange. This change isn’t just visual—it also makes the enemies tougher.

Increased Enemy Difficulty & Corruption

Enemies in the level will be quicker and their attacks will deal more damage. Besides the usual blue projectiles that your shield can absorb, enemies will also fire yellow projectiles that build up corruption on Arjun. Each time Arjun is hit by these yellow projectiles, his maximum health will decrease, and if it reaches zero, he’ll be sent back to The Passage.

Artifacts Get Rolled with Debuffs

Besides tougher enemies and corruption, the artifacts you find will now have downsides too. Normally, artifacts increase Arjun’s stats and give him a helpful ability, but now they’ll also come with negative effects.

Eclipse effects will either trade one of Arjun’s stats for another – making him stronger in one area while weaker in another – or directly weaken him with effects like reduced health, slower dashes, or lost Lucenite when he’s hit. You’ll need to decide which of these negative effects you can work around, and which ones are best avoided.

Tips on Surviving Eclipse in Saros

Now that you understand how Eclipse affects gameplay within a Biome, let’s discuss how to survive it. You won’t need to completely alter how you play, but these tips will help you adjust to the increased difficulty and make it through the challenging Eclipse in Saros.

Unlock Shield Amplifier Skill

Okay, so the Shield Amplifier is a game-changer! It lets my shield block those nasty Corruption shots as well as the regular blue ones. It won’t stop the Corruption from building up on Arjun, but it does give a nice boost to my Adrenaline, which means I can use my Power Weapon way more often – and that’s awesome!

Remove Corruption Timely

To stay healthy and survive in the Eclipsed zone, you need to regularly remove corruption from Arjun. This restores your maximum health. You can do this by using your power weapon (press L2 and R2 at the same time) or by learning and using the parry skill in Saros.

Pick & Choose Negative Artifacts

During the Eclipse phases in Saros, you’ll find items that have both benefits and drawbacks. Before grabbing one, take a moment to consider the negative effects – make sure you can adjust how you play to deal with them, or even turn them into an advantage.

Unlock Second Life Ability

One of the most valuable skills you can get in Saros is an extra life, and you can unlock it right from the beginning! It does exactly what you’d expect: if Arjun falls in battle, this ability lets him get back up once. Save it for really difficult fights, like boss battles, to give yourself the best chance of winning.

Activate Corruption Reduction or Cleanse Modifiers

If you’re finding the Eclipse sections too challenging, you can use Carcosan Modifiers to help. Corruption Reduction slows down how quickly corruption builds up from enemy attacks, and Corruption Cleanse lets you get rid of corruption rapidly.
