With the ongoing arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex in 2026, powerful new enemies linked to the Shinju are constantly appearing. To help the ninjas of Konoha fight back, creators Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto have been steadily increasing their power levels, with the most recent upgrades showcased in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 33, released on April 20, 2026.
Konoha’s ninja are quickly growing more powerful, now capable of facing threats that could destroy planets. This increase in strength is a positive development for Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, who is expected to return soon as the story progresses.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex’s Latest Arcs Have Given Inojin, Chocho, Shikadai, Himawari, Kawaki, and Sarada New Power Ups
So far, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been divided into three main story arcs. The first, “Boruto’s Return,” lasted from October 2023 to December 2024, covering the first 15 chapters. This was followed by the “Matsuri and Ryu” arc, and most recently, the “Mamushi” arc, which just finished with chapter 33. Throughout these arcs, many Konoha ninja have gained significant new abilities and strengths.
I’m seriously hyped about how much stronger Boruto has become since the start of the series! And Mitsuki finally showing off the full extent of his Sage Mode was incredible. But honestly, Kawaki’s power-ups are just non-stop! It felt like just after the timeskip, in chapter 3, he suddenly knew how to use the Kōgan perfectly. Then, right before things got crazy with the Mamushi arc, Amado gave him another huge boost to his attacks! It’s amazing to watch.
Though the focus has been on some characters gaining new abilities, the creators, Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto, haven’t neglected others. In the recent Matsuri and Ryu arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada Uchiha has mastered her Mangekyo Sharingan, and Himawari’s full Kurama powers have awakened, even letting her briefly hold her own against a powerful opponent like Jura.
I know what I have to do, and I’m ready to face it. — Inojin Yamanaka, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33
The biggest shock in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex arc came from Inojin, Shikadai, and Chocho, who all showed surprising new strength. Even though Mamushi was incredibly powerful, Chocho managed to destroy many of his clones with a single blow. Shikadai’s Shadow Possession, which usually struggles against much stronger opponents (as seen in Naruto), was able to completely immobilize Mamushi. Inojin went even further, creating a new technique and mastering Mind-body Transfer to control all of Mamushi’s clones, despite him being an Otsutsuki-level threat. Working together, they stopped and defeated Shinju Mamushi, significantly increasing their own power in the process.
The Implications Of Konoha’s New Power Ups For Naruto and Sasuke Upon Return
It seems Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto are significantly strengthening Konoha’s forces, likely in anticipation of future, larger threats. Characters like Hidari and Jura pose a growing danger, and the story will likely address their influence soon. Plus, the Otsutsuki clan isn’t finished yet, and Konoha will probably become a target for them eventually. Therefore, Konoha needs to become even more powerful, and the authors are doing a fantastic job of developing both the main characters and the supporting cast. This is encouraging news for fans of Naruto and Sasuke.
During the fight against Isshiki in the Boruto manga, Naruto and Sasuke both suffered major power losses. Naruto used a risky technique called Baryon Mode, which resulted in the permanent loss of Kurama, his powerful tailed beast. Immediately after, Sasuke’s Rinnegan was destroyed by Momoshiki. These events drastically weakened Konoha’s two strongest protectors, and shortly after, they were effectively removed from the main storyline through different sealing techniques.
With the Two Blue Vortex storyline now over 30 chapters in, the return of Naruto and Sasuke is getting closer. When they do return, they’re sure to be much more powerful, just like other Konoha ninjas. Even without Kurama, Naruto has a stronger Sage Mode and will likely receive a general power boost, similar to what we’ve seen with characters like Chocho, Shikadai, and Inojin. Sasuke also trained extensively during the time skip, as confirmed in official materials. It’s clear both will be stronger than ever when they officially return to the story.

Why Sasuke Uchiha Will Be Much Stronger After His Return Following The New Hidari Arc
Sasuke Uchiha’s return to the Boruto series seems very likely now that Shinju Mamushi has been defeated. The story will now center on Shinju Hidari, who possesses powers similar to Sasuke’s. When Hidari falls, it will unlock the Thorn Soul Bulb, a key to bringing Sasuke back. This suggests Sasuke’s return could happen within a few months.
When Sasuke comes back, he needs to be immediately put back into active duty. To make that work, the creators, Ikemoto and Kishimoto, will likely need to make him much more powerful to handle enemies like Jura or any other threats as strong as the Otsutsuki clan. Since many of the younger Konoha ninjas have already received power boosts, it makes sense that the adult characters will need one too, to maintain a consistent power level within the series. It’s only a matter of time before we see them demonstrate their full potential again in the new Boruto series.
The newest chapter of Boruto will be available to read on Manga Plus on May 20, 2026.
