Like all the maps, this desert area hides a secret waiting to be discovered. Finding it might be a bit more challenging and time-consuming than the bell puzzle, but it’s definitely worth the effort.
This challenge is a little difficult, but the payoff is great. You’ll be traveling to the desert, and you don’t need to prepare with any special items. However, if you choose a higher difficulty, it might take a few tries to succeed.
This guide has everything you need to finish the quest and claim your rewards. It’s quite detailed, but with all the information at your fingertips, it should be manageable even during the fast-paced action.
Completing the Cactus Quest

This challenge requires you to locate cacti throughout the game world. You’ll need to find six unique large cacti and six unique small cacti.
We need to reunite the little cacti with their matching parent plants. Identifying the correct pairs isn’t the problem—actually locating all the cacti is the real challenge.
Feel free to tackle these in any order that works best for you. I completed them in the sequence shown below, but the most important thing is to make sure each of the six adults is reunited with their child.
You cannot mount while holding these, so you’ll have to jump-dash your way to the parent cacti.
The Fishing Cacti
This young cactus hasn’t wandered far from its parents. If you head to the southern part of the area, you’ll discover a small lake where a little cactus is fishing with a rod.
Pick up the cactus, then walk north until you reach the river. Once you’re at the river, follow it eastward until you come to a split. Take the branch of the river that goes north, and that will lead you just beyond a bandit camp.
After you pass the waterfall near the camp, you’ll see the parent cacti. Don’t forget to pick up the broken record piece right under the waterfall! That’s one piece collected – only five more to find.
The Rock Cacti
Okay, so I was exploring the north-eastern part of the map, and I found these little pyramids. There’s this one with a tiny cactus sitting on top, and it’s got a rock balanced right on its head! It took a bit of work to get up there – I had to jump and dash forward to reach the next level, but it was totally worth it to see that little cactus!
Go straight south, past the river, and look for the parent bird right before the bridge to the small island. Once you’ve found it, you’ll only have four more to locate.
The Bones Cacti
Head south from Dr. Spark-Twist – look for the orange cowboy hat on the map. You’ll come to a small river that leads to the middle of the map. At the river’s end, you’ll find a large bone pile, and our cactus is hidden underneath it.
From this point, simply go west. It can be a bit tricky, as you’ll need to pass through several tunnels to reach your destination.
If you’re driving in from the east, look to your right as you come out of the tunnels – you’ll see the large cactus there. You’re now at the halfway point, so you’re making good progress!
The Flower Cacti
To find the flower cacti, go to the far north of the map. Look for a wrecked ship along the coast – the cacti are inside the wreckage.
To get to the adult cacti, you can follow the edge of the map, which will lead you back to the pyramids you already saw. You can ignore the two pyramids that are right next to each other and go for the one that’s a bit further off.
Once you’ve returned the child to their parent, you’re in good shape. That makes four out of six tasks completed, so you’re almost finished, which is good!
The Bucket Cacti
Okay, so getting this collectible is kinda tricky. It’s right in the middle of a Marauder camp! You can either try to sneak in and quickly snag it from the north side – if you’re good at being stealthy – or just fight your way through all the enemies to grab it safely. It’s up to you how you want to approach it!
The quickest way to continue is to use one of the ziplines to climb the cliff to the north. From there, head north along the coast. You’ll see a large, broken archway in the distance; the cactus you need is just to the left of it.
The Scrap Cacti
Right after you pass where you left the rock cactus, you’ll see a bunch of pipes running between two big rocks. The tiny scrap cactus is sitting on top of one of those pipes, and it looks tricky to reach.

If you approach it, you can quickly jump onto the rocks below, then jump up to the one at the same height. From there, you can grab onto it and head southwest.
You’ll find the cactus you need just in front of the smoking building in the distance. Once you’ve found it, you’ll complete this part of the quest, and you’ll be good to go regardless of whether you complete the entire mission.
Rewards
So, just like with the bell quest, I found out you get another upgrade for Joker’s gun when you head back to the saloon. I’m playing with friends, and we’re not totally sure if we all have to do the quest separately to get the upgrade, but it seems like we might have to!
You’ll get the Cactus Day Joker, a useful card early in the game that can help you out of tricky spots. Here’s what it does:
- Cactus Day – +3% chance for a Cactus Mino to spawn when an enemy dies. Max 2.
This creates a few cactus mines using the initial cactus spell. They’re really useful for dealing with large groups of enemies that are closing in on you.
When playing a cooperative game, it can sometimes be quicker if players separate and tackle tasks individually. Because you don’t need to carefully gather items to earn the reward, feel free to be a bit reckless and speed things up.
