Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3 Officially Reveals The Next Gojo-Style Mentor For The New Generation

The final volume of Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki’s short series, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, was released on May 1, 2026, to great excitement. The volume concludes the story and includes extra content from the author, Gege Akutami, revealing new details. It also features a bonus one-shot story with beloved characters from the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, offering fans a closer look at popular sorcerers like Aoi Todo.

Following the death of Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen, the series creator, Gege Akutami, has revealed that Yuji Itadori will become a mentor to the next generation of sorcerers. He’ll be joined in this role by Aoi Todo, who has already trained many sorcerers, as confirmed by both Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki.

New Official Notes From Gege Akutami Confirm Aoi Todo And Yuji Itadori As The Mentors Of The Next Generation

The third volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo was released in Japan on May 1, 2026, and included a special one-shot chapter. While the chapter didn’t reveal any major new plot points or backstory related to the story’s ending, it did offer more in-depth looks at several characters and provided extra details about supporting characters that fans appreciated.

The original Jujutsu Kaisen series talked about the character Aoi Todo and even showed he had informed Yuji about the conflict between the Simurians and humans. However, Todo never actually appeared in the manga itself. This new one-shot chapter, created by Gege Akutami with art by Yuji Iwasaki, resolves this by finally introducing Todo and his wife, and clarifying his role in the story after the main Jujutsu Kaisen storyline concludes.

A recently revealed detail from the extra content in Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 3 shows that after Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat, Aoi Todo took on the responsibility of training and raising several young sorcerers. Much like his own mentor, Yuki Tsukumo, Todo became a highly regarded and effective teacher. He didn’t just instruct them in sorcery, but also helped them understand human nature, the meaning of love, and the reasons behind conflict – offering a unique and valuable perspective rarely seen in the Jujutsu Kaisen world.

Todo wasn’t the only one preparing for the coming conflict; Yuji Itadori also trained numerous students. Like Todo, Yuji became incredibly powerful and a key figure for the next generation of sorcerers, essentially becoming the new Gojo Satoru in both strength and influence. They trained many students together, though only Miyaguni has been fully revealed so far (in chapter 14 of JJK Modulo). While she didn’t have a major role in the Modulo series, she was consistently present, providing background information. Miyaguni’s current strength is a direct result of the training she received from Yuji and Todo.

How Yuji’s Status As “The Strongest” Makes Him The Next Gojo In Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo

After Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat in Jujutsu Kaisen, both Yuji Itadori and Todo began training the next group of sorcerers. However, Yuji is considered the true successor to Gojo Satoru as a mentor, largely because he’s officially recognized as the strongest sorcerer of the new generation. Volume 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo confirms that fans are now calling Yuji the strongest, a title previously held by Gojo Satoru in the modern era.

After Gojo’s death, no one immediately took his place as the strongest sorcerer, though Yuji and Yuta Okkotsu were the clear contenders. While it’s uncertain if Yuta ever officially held the title, the author has confirmed that Yuji has been the strongest for a considerable time and remains so, much like Gojo. Yuji experiences a profound loneliness, with only Dabura offering any solace. He’s also dedicated to training the next generation of sorcerers, preparing them for the challenges he faced. This mirrors Gojo’s role, and fans are thrilled to see Yuji carrying on that legacy.

Yuji’s Final Plan To Train New Sorcerers in Modulo Alongside Nobara and Todo

I’ve been following Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and in Volume 3, Yuji Itadori’s path towards becoming the next Gojo really started to take shape. It all comes down to his plan for training the next group of Sorcerers. At the end of the volume, Yuji went to see Nobara Kugisaki with a big request. He wants her help in preparing the new generation, especially with the Simurians now living on Earth. His ultimate goal? To get access to all the cursed tools the Gojo Clan has stored away. He intends to make copies of these tools, distributing them so Tokyo will be prepared to fight any cursed spirits that appear within the next year.

Yuji plans to gather other people with the Heavenly Restriction ability and build a strong team of fighters using readily available cursed tools. He, Nobara, and Todo would then train this team to handle any cursed spirits they encounter, ensuring their ability to protect people even long after Yuji is gone.

After taking in the Cursed Wombs, he transformed into a being that was both cursed and human, drastically slowing his aging process, as noted by Gege Akutami in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume 3.

Ultimately, Yuji plans to become a cursed object, similar to Sukuna. This way, if future generations of sorcerers face threats they can’t handle, they can consume him, allowing him to be reborn and continue the fight. This makes Yuji unique, blending aspects of both Gojo and Sukuna, which is what makes his character so compelling.
