As a huge Final Fantasy 14 fan, I just saw that Square Enix released a bunch of hotfixes! It sounds like there was a pretty wide range of stuff they were tackling – everything from making the game more accessible to fixing quests that were getting stuck. It’s a small download, but it’s awesome to see them so quick to address these issues after the 7.5 update.
Just over a week after the release of the 7.5 update, ‘Trail to the Heavens,’ for Final Fantasy 14, Square Enix released a new set of fixes. This 7.5 patch is the first of four major updates planned for spring and summer of 2026. It added new story content and a raid, and also set the stage for upcoming battle features in the Evercold expansion. Final Fantasy 14: Evercold is scheduled to launch in January 2027, and more details will be revealed at the FanFest events in Berlin and Tokyo later this year.
Final Fantasy 14 Releases Some Hotfixes for Patch 7.5’s Key Issues
The recent 7.5 update for Final Fantasy 14 included job adjustments but also revealed some hidden bugs. A week after the update launched, a hotfix was released following server maintenance to address these issues. The hotfix focused on the new alliance raid, Windurst: The Third Walk, specifically the fight against the third boss, Promathia. Players reported feeling motion sick and disoriented during the Promathia battle, so the arena’s design was changed. Additionally, a bug was fixed that could cause players’ screens to go black if they returned to the raid’s starting area right after defeating Promathia.
Patch 7.5 included fixes for some unusual translation mistakes, including instances where NPC dialogue appeared in Japanese instead of English. A similar issue happened in January with Patch 7.16, affecting how one NPC’s text was displayed. Also, the “Senor Otter Pack” was temporarily removed from the game because it was released early by mistake, before the 2026 Make It Rain Campaign. Square Enix has confirmed the pack will be available again when the Make It Rain Campaign starts in late May and asked players to be patient.
Final Fantasy 14’s Latest Issues Could Not Go Unchecked
Recent updates to Final Fantasy 14 fixed a problem in the Hildibrand questline, specifically during the “Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs” quest added in March. Players were getting stuck with a black screen after the final scene, which stopped them from continuing. This was important to fix because more Hildibrand quests are coming on July 28th, and the bug would have prevented some players from enjoying the new content.
The newest update to Final Fantasy 14 also resolved problems with minions, character appearances, and dyes. As the game prepares to launch on the Switch 2 in August, it’s unclear how many other bugs and issues the developers are still working to fix.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5 Hotfixes (May 7, 2026)
The battlefield in Windurst: The Third Walk now looks different during the fight with Promathia.
The following issues have been addressed:
- An issue when undertaking the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures quest “Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs,” introduced in Patch 7.45, wherein, after the final cutscene fades to black, the screen remains black, and the quest cannot be completed.
- An issue wherein some NPC dialogue will display in Japanese during certain parts of the Patch 7.5 main scenario quests.
- In Housing, when you set up a second patch, there are cases where, under certain conditions, you will no longer be able to target the first patch that has already been set up. If this issue occurs, you can resolve it by placing the item in your inventory after the fix is applied and then placing it again.
- In Windurst: The Third Walk, if a K.O.’d player returns to the starting point at a specific timing after Promathia is defeated, the screen remains black.
- In the instanced dungeon “The Clyteum” introduced in Patch 7.5, spiritbond does not increase.
- When exchanging items with the following NPC vendors, the confirmation pop-up incorrectly displays Japanese text.
- Affected NPCs:
- Ardolain – Foundation
- Amalj’aa Vendor – Southern ThanalanSylphic Vendor – East Shroud
- Kobold Vendor – Outer La Noscea
- Sahagin Vendor – Western La Noscea
- Luna Vanu – Sea of Clouds
- Vath Stickpeddler – Dravanian Forelands
- Shikitahe – The Ruby Sea
- Madhura – The Fringes
- Gyosho – The Azim Steppe
- Produce Producer – Island Sanctuary
- Expedition Antiquarian – Occult Crescent: South Horn
- Affected NPCs:
- The unintended availability of the Senor Otter Pack fashion accessory, which is scheduled for release as a future reward. Due to a recent update, the “Senor Otter Pack” is no longer available. It will be available during a seasonal event scheduled for late May 2026, so we hope you will acquire it again at that time. Please note that if you were using the “Senor Otter Pack” prior to the update, it will become unavailable as of the time the update was applied.
- An issue wherein the following undyeable gear displays the dye icons and dye subcommand, allowing the item dyeing window to be erroneously opened:
- Moogle Head / Moogle Body / Moogle Arms / Moogle Buns / Moogle Legs
- Dye 2 is no longer applied to the hem of the Air Cell Halfslops when worn by male Roegadyn and male Hrothgar.
- When the Dirndl Long Skirt is equipped together with certain body gear on non-Lalafell female characters, the gear may be displayed incorrectly when performing certain animations and poses.
- The Caprino and Wind-up Red XIII minions have black dots displayed on their models when the Texture Resolution setting is set to Standard, or when playing on the PlayStation 4 / Xbox Series S versions. (Windows / Mac / Steam / PlayStation 4 / Xbox Series S only)
- When your character is standing up from the crafting idle state (being seated with crafting tool drawn), switching to another class or job may cause the character to become immobilized.
- Certain textures in the first arena of Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) are not properly displayed. (PlayStation 5 only)
- An issue in the Bannock in the Central Shroud wherein the striking dummies display the incorrect level, and the “Reset Striking Dummy Enmity” subcommand is unavailable.
- The Quest Progression Settings under Character Configuration are incorrectly triggered around garden patches, hired NPCs, and mannequins.
- When using a DualSense wireless controller, haptic feedback is not being triggered as intended when the job gauge for certain jobs reaches specific thresholds. (Windows / Steam only)
