Battleplan Dev Diary Sneak Peak – Zone Orders

Slitherine kindly gave me an early look at their new developer diary for Battleplan, a game I’m really looking forward to in 2026.

I won’t reveal too much, but Slitherine listened to your feedback from the last Steam Next Fest and has added a new, optional way to control your units called Zone Orders. You’ll be able to give commands at the regimental level.

Define an area, then divide it into zones based on how many regiments you have. This creates clear responsibilities for each regiment, letting you assign and adjust them as needed to best achieve your goals.

For more details, visit the Battleplan Steam page on May 11th, or head to Slitherine’s website to learn about the new system you requested!

New to Battleplan? It’s a large-scale, real-time strategy game set in World War II. Developed by Foolish Mortals Games and published by Slitherine, it focuses on realistic gameplay and lets you command entire divisions across huge, historically accurate battlefields based on real-world locations.

Instead of controlling soldiers directly, you’re a commander who creates detailed plans on a map and then lets your officers carry them out. The game realistically simulates operations that can last for days or weeks, demanding you master logistics, understand the terrain, and effectively manage your command structure.
