A cosplay group called Players Alliance HQ is planning a protest at Electronic Arts (EA) headquarters in Redwood City, California, following the announcement of EA’s $55 billion acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The group shared their plans for the demonstration on social media.
In September 2025, Electronic Arts (EA) announced it would become a private company after agreeing to a $55 billion acquisition. The deal is being led by a group of investors including the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Affinity Partners, and Silver Lake. Affinity Partners, an investment firm previously funded by the Saudi Arabian government, is headed by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump. The acquisition is currently under review by US regulators and other authorities.
EA’s Redwood City Campus Will Be The Site of a Protest ‘Raid’
Even though EA has tried to address player concerns, protests against the deal are still happening. A group called Players Alliance HQ plans to protest at EA’s headquarters in Redwood City, California, starting Monday, May 11th at 11:00 AM Pacific Time. They aim to deliver a petition with over 70,000 signatures to try and stop the deal. Content creator SlayerKase shared that the group will unfurl a 50-foot scroll containing the signatures on the Madden NFL football field on the EA campus.

The Players Alliance HQ, a cosplay group, is organizing a protest against Electronic Arts (EA). Protesters plan to dress as characters representing EA’s corporate structure, portraying them as villains. Streamers SlayerKase and Zefrine will broadcast the protest live on Twitch and Instagram, respectively. The Players Alliance HQ highlights a significant pay disparity between EA CEO Andrew Wilson and the average EA employee, noting Wilson earns 260 times more while the company has laid off numerous developers. They also criticize EA’s practice of shutting down game servers and using loot boxes, arguing these actions take away games and money from consumers.
EA’s Deal Is Far From Finished
The Players Alliance HQ isn’t the only one speaking out against EA’s planned acquisition. Congressman Maxwell Frost of Florida, along with streamer Zefrine and former EA creator Lilsimsie, protested the buyout during a livestream to inform their viewers. At 29 years old, Congressman Frost is the youngest member of Congress and serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Towards the end of 2025, two U.S. Senators expressed worries about national security regarding the proposed purchase of EA. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal explained that the deal could give the PIF (Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund) the ability to influence EA’s users and potentially access their private information, both in the United States and internationally. Essentially, the agreement between EA and the PIF still faces significant hurdles and isn’t finalized.
