Following the Golden Week holiday, new chapter 1182 of One Piece was released today, May 10, 2026. As the story on Elbaph heads towards a climactic showdown, creator Eiichiro Oda unveiled significant backstory details and set the stage for some thrilling battles. A major highlight of chapter 1182 was the introduction of the Rain God Zaza. This character, hinted at and mentioned by name 23 years ago in chapter 287, finally made his debut through the powers of Saint Rimoshifu Killingham, one of the Holy Knights.
One Piece Chapter 1182 Officially Reveals Rain God Zaza Through Killingham’s Dream Manifestation
In One Piece Chapter 1182, the Holy Knights, and especially Saint Killinham, took center stage. Killinham received a power boost from an Omen sent by Nerona Imu, which flooded his body with energy. This power not only increased his physical strength but also amplified his Devil Fruit ability. As revealed in Chapter 1143, Killinham’s Devil Fruit is the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin – a rare Mythical Zoan that allows him to make dreams real. He can create anything he or others dream of, and even turn nightmares into reality, with a glimpse of this power shown in the latest chapter.
Saint Killingham typically brings other people’s dreams and nightmares to life. But in the latest One Piece chapter, he manifested his own greatest fear: the Rain God Zaza. Fans have been anticipating Zaza’s reveal ever since the Sun God Nika was introduced four years ago during the Wano Country arc (chapter 1044). The Rain God was originally mentioned way back in the Skypiea Arc, during a flashback about Noland and Kalgara in chapter 287, which first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2003.
Oh no, I made a terrible mistake! I accidentally summoned something I shouldn’t have! I just got too carried away… — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
This chapter showed that the Shandians worshipped the Rain God Zaza as one of their four main deities, along with gods of the Sun, Earth, and Forest, and depicted a sacrifice being made to them by Musse. Now, after 23 years in the story, the author, Eiichiro Oda, has formally introduced Rain God Zaza through Killinham’s fighting style.
Why The Celestial Dragons Are Afraid Of The Rain God
Chapter 1182 of One Piece officially revealed that all Celestial Dragons, including Saint Killingham, are afraid of the Rain God Zaza. This fear stems from the fact that the Celestial Dragons live in Marijoa, a holy land situated above the clouds. Because there are no clouds above Marijoa, it never rains, and for reasons unknown, the Celestial Dragons dread the possibility of rain.
We grew up in a sky-high land, far above the clouds. Rain was something we were taught to fear – a terrifying mystery! After stories of the people of D and Nika, the biggest warning we received was about a creature in the world below called the Rain God, who supposedly attacks by pouring water down on you. — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
Celestial Dragons often frighten their children with stories about the Rain God Zaza, a powerful being who unleashes devastating rains and floods. Killingham has always been afraid of Zaza, and Saint Somers recently confirmed in One Piece Chapter 1182 that Zaza is incredibly dangerous – something no one should even imagine provoking. This shows that all Celestial Dragons fear the Rain God, particularly because of its ability to cause widespread destruction through massive floods. This makes Zaza one of the biggest threats they face in the upcoming final war.

All Powers And Abilities Of Rain God Zaza
Eiichiro Oda hasn’t fully explained the powers of the Rain God Zaza yet. We only recently learned about Zaza in chapter 1182, and it appears as a fighter. Like the Sun God Nika, Zaza seems to be a mythical being connected to a Devil Fruit. Luffy has the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and it’s believed there’s a similar Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. Oda hasn’t officially confirmed this fruit or its user, so most of its abilities are still a mystery. However, chapter 1182 did give us a taste of what Zaza might be capable of.
As the pleas for rain rose and fell, Rain God Zaza arrived! – Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
Zaza appears as a massive, watery god and has the power to create devastating floods. In just one minute, it completely submerged the village of Elbaph, demonstrating its incredible strength. Chapter 1182 of One Piece showed Zaza growing to an enormous size and even manifesting up to four arms. Omen revealed that Zaza also has a large ring of water behind its back, similar to Imu’s Ring of Black Flames. This ring allows Zaza to use a variety of water-based attacks, making its Devil Fruit ability a significant threat to anyone else with Devil Fruit powers. By sinking other Devil Fruit users, Zaza can defeat most of its opponents, which explains why the Celestial Dragons are so afraid of it.
In chapter 1182, Rain God Zaza, acting on Killingham’s orders, kidnapped children from Elbaph. Now, Sanji and the Straw Hat Pirates must stop this powerful being—which is actually a manifestation of a dream—from devastating the land of the Giants. There’s also a chance Zaza could break free from Killingham’s control, given its divine nature, making it incredibly difficult to defeat, even though it isn’t the real god. The next few chapters of One Piece will likely reveal more about Rain God Zaza’s history and origins, and possibly the current user of the Devil Fruit that grants this power.
