How to Get the Leaping Kuku Bird Mount in Crimson Desert

Dreaming of riding a Chocobo from Final Fantasy in Crimson Desert? You’re in luck! The Kuku Bird is very similar to a red-feathered Chocobo, and it’s a fantastic mount you can now get. We’ll show you exactly how to find and hatch your own Leaping Kuku Bird below.

This mount isn’t as powerful as some others, and it’s not the fastest, but it’s still a fun choice! It has a silly egg-shaped hat, a large, noticeable size, and can even glide, which prevents damage from falls. This adorable bird is a new mount you’ll definitely want to add to your collection.

To get the Kuku Bird, you only need a Mask. You’ll use it to steal both the egg and the journal that explains how to care for the bird.

How to Get the Kuku Bird Egg in Crimson Desert

You can find the Kuku Bird at the Bloodsteel Camp, which is located in the Steel Mountains, southeast of Hernand.

You need to free the center area of Bloodsteel Camp, and look for a tall wooden tower with a red arrow on top.

Climb the tower and press L2 to grip the wall. Then, use Force Palm (press R3) to spin the wall around and reveal a hidden room. Inside, you’ll find a Kuku Bird Egg, which you can take. However, be aware that taking the egg is considered stealing, so you’ll need to wait in the room after you collect it.

In this room, you’ll find a desk with the Leaping Kuku Bird Research Journal. You need to take it and read it to find out more about the Kuku Bird.

How to Hatch the Kuku Bird Egg in Crimson Desert

Okay, so I’ve got the Kuku Bird Egg now, which means it’s time to hatch it! You’ll want to head to the Kingshield Mountains in Demeniss. There’s a specific nest near a tree where it’ll hatch – thankfully, they’ve marked it on the map for me, so I shouldn’t get lost!

Bring your Kuku Bird Egg to the spot marked on the map (just north of the letter ‘D’ in ‘Demeniss’). Open your inventory, then select the Kuku Bird Egg and choose ‘Use’. While holding down the L1 button, press the Triangle button to place the egg in the nest. If you did it right, the egg will start to glow orange.

Now, simply wait by the egg for 5 minutes. When it glows completely orange, you can interact with it to hatch the Kuku Bird. Finally, interact with the baby Kuku Bird to officially register it as your permanent mount.

The Leaping Kuku Bird is known for its ability to jump and glide down from great heights! We don’t currently know if there are different types of Kuku Birds, but we’ll be sure to add more information to this guide if we find out.
