EGS Users Have Until May 16 to Claim 2023 Open-World Survival Game Completely Free of Charge

Epic Games Store is offering a special free game outside of its usual weekly selection: the 2023 open-world survival game Devil’s Island. You have until May 16th at 3:11 AM Pacific Time / 6:11 AM Eastern Time to claim and download it—and it’s yours to keep! It’s a bit unusual that the deadline is so specific, rather than on the hour, but it adds a quirky touch.

Also, Steam is offering a free weekend for GreedFall 2, letting players try out the fantasy RPG until May 17th at 10 am Pacific Time / 1 pm Eastern Time. After that, you’ll need to buy the game to continue playing, though it will be available at a discounted price. This doesn’t apply to Devil’s Island, which remains free.

Devil’s Island is a first-person, open-world survival game with horror themes. You play as a mercenary investigating the cause of an apocalypse, traveling to a strange island rumored to be its origin. Expect to fight zombies and other monsters, avoid traps, and solve puzzles. You’ll also be able to improve your character’s skills and use a variety of weapons as you play.

Normally, Devil’s Island costs $11.99, making it an affordable PC game. This low price point is noticeable in the game’s design – the graphics are basic, and the user interface isn’t fully polished. However, considering it’s currently free on the Epic Games Store, and money is tight for many, that’s a great deal! If you’re just looking for something to play casually this weekend, Devil’s Island might be worth checking out.

Most of the biggest video game releases this May are happening later in the month. While free games like Devil’s Island are fun, get ready to lose some free time with upcoming titles like Subnautica 2, Forza Horizon 6, Zero Parade: For Dead Spies, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Warhammer 40K Mechanicus 2, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Bubsy 4D, 007 First Light, and Mina the Hollower. I love how Steam and the Epic Games Store regularly give away free games! It’s awesome because you can actually keep them forever. I just grabbed Devil’s Island – even though I might not get to play it right away, it’s great to add it to my collection for later.
