In Subnautica 2, you can craft Rubber by using Lucifer Rotsac, a common plant found early in the game if you know where to search.
Rubber is a vital crafting component in Subnautica 2. To create many important items, players need to know how to locate Lucifer Rotsac and turn it into Rubber. Here’s a guide to help you do just that.

Early in Subnautica 2, you can find Lucifer Rotsac in the shallow waters near your Lifepod. It appears as a bright red, bulb-shaped orb growing out of a large, colorful plant called the Cradle Shootroot.
The flower features delicate, sea-green leaves with orange tips, and a central bud shaped like a starfish – this is known as the Lucifer Rotsac. Both the Cradle Shootroot and the Lucifer Rotsac naturally glow in the dark, so they’re easy to see at night. Look for a bright red glow on the ocean floor to find them.
You collect Lucifer Rotsacs by hand. Just swim close to the flower and press the interact key to add it to your inventory. Each flower yields a single Lucifer Rotsac.
Okay, so I figured out you can actually harvest the Cradle Shootroot – that’s the main flower – by just chopping it down with the Survival Multitool. When you do, you get Fibrous Pulp, which is awesome because you can turn it into Fiber, or if you’re feeling hungry, cook up a pretty decent Oily Salad!
In Subnautica 2, you’ll need to find and use the Digestion Adaptation, which you get from the Angel Root plant near your Lifepod, before you can eat any food.

Once you get Lucifer Rotsac bulbs, you can turn them into Rubber using any Fabricator found in the Resources tab under the Basic Materials section. You’ll need Rubber to make Basic Fins, Standard Air Tanks, and Air Bladders.
Keep in mind that the Fabricator needs power to run. This isn’t an issue with the Lifepod, but could become one once you start building a base.
So far, the main purpose of Lucifer Rotsacs (besides getting rubber) is to create Grease – one Rotsac makes one unit of Grease, which you’ll need for crafting machines. Early in the game, I suggest turning every Lucifer Rotsac you find into Rubber to free up space in your inventory. You can always get more later because they grow back quickly.
