Nintendo games are consistently popular with players, and now Kylie Jenner, a well-known influencer and reality TV star, has shared her enthusiasm for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Released in 2017 for Nintendo Switch and Wii U, Breath of the Wild quickly became a hit. The game reimagined the world of Hyrule, taking the best parts of previous Zelda games and adding a new level of player freedom.
Last year, players new to the series and veterans alike had another opportunity to experience the classic Zelda adventure with the release of Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch 2. This updated version offered better graphics and smoother gameplay compared to the original. It also included new audio content – recordings of lines from actress Patricia Summersett, who voices Zelda.
Kylie Jenner’s Breath of the Wild Journey
I was so surprised to see Kylie Jenner talking about Breath of the Wild on that Netflix show, Therapuss! It was kind of funny because the host, Jake Shane, clearly had no idea what she was talking about, but Kylie did her best to explain the whole story. She stumbled over saying ‘Ganon’ a few times, but honestly, she knew a lot about the game and the history of Hyrule! She even said she’s still pretty new to it, but she’s already managed to free one of the Divine Beasts. I don’t know if she’s playing on a Switch or what, but it’s amazing that people are still talking about this game nine years later – it’s a classic!

Kendall Jenner isn’t the only fan of Breath of the Wild. Jeff Kaplan, the creator of Overwatch, even called it the greatest game of all time, and many others agree. With over 33 million copies sold and numerous awards, Breath of the Wild has clearly had a massive impact. Not only did it change the direction of the Zelda series, but it’s also inspired the creation of many other games.
In 2026, the original Zelda game will celebrate its 40th anniversary. First released in Japan in 1986 and in North America in 1987 as a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) title, Zelda has become a cornerstone franchise for Nintendo, boosted by hits like Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. While Nintendo hasn’t announced any specific anniversary plans yet, there’s still time for them to do so. Rumors suggest a remake of Ocarina of Time might be released this year, and a new Zelda amiibo is scheduled for September.

A movie based on The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to come out in 2027, and Wes Ball is directing it. Earlier this year, The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released, featuring Brie Larsen as Rosalina. Larsen had often spoken about her fondness for Mario and Metroid games long before she was cast. Now that the Zelda movie is probably close to being finished, Nintendo might ask Jenner to help with promotion. While it’s unknown which Zelda games will inspire the film, Breath of the Wild seems like a strong possibility, and having a well-known influencer who genuinely loves the game could be a great boost.
