We’ve played through all the choices in Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham, and documented the outcomes. We’ve also highlighted the decisions that best align with Batman’s character, so you can make choices that feel true to the Dark Knight when you play.
All Choices & Consequences in Batman Telltale Episode 4
| Choice | Decision (A) | Decision (B) |
|---|---|---|
| Accept Joker’s Favor | That’s not going to happen. (You don’t owe Joker anything.) | Sure. That seems fair. (Joker causes a distraction, but you’ll owe him a favor if he ever gets out of Arkham.) |
| Stop the Fight or Use the Phone | [Stop the fighting] (Bruce is injured saving people from Zsasz, and Alfred helps Bruce leave Arkham.) | [Use the Phone] (Bruce manages to call Alfred to help him, but Zsasz kills someone.) |
| Pay Off the Enforcer or Ram the Barricade | [Ram the Barricade] (Bruce’s reputation further tanks in the public’s eye.) | [Pay off the Enforcer] (Bruce loses some money, but gets to go home safely.) |
| Go As Batman or Bruce | [Go as Batman] (Batman fails to intimidate Harvey, but rescues Gordon.) | [Go as Bruce] (Bruce fails to reason with Harvey and is sent to be executed, but is saved by Gordon.) |
| Go to Wayne Manor or Wayne Enterprises | [Go to Wayne Manor] (Batman stops Wayne Manor from burning down, and Harvey is arrested, but he loses his tech to Oswald Cobblepot.) | [Go to Wayne Enterprises] (Batman stops Oswald Cobblepot for good and gets his tech back, but his home burns down.) |
| Send Harvey to Prison or Arkham (Wayne Manor ending only) | Put him in Prison. (Harvey rots in prison as a criminal.) | Send him to Arkham. (Harvey gets the mental help he needs.) |
Should You Accept Joker’s Favor?
- You’re never getting out. | That’s not going to happen. | Sure. That seems fair.
Honestly, Joker’s a total mystery, so it’s tough to figure out what he’d even want if I tried to make a deal. But things are desperate. Bruce is really focused on finding a way to contact Alfred – he needs to get out of Arkham ASAP so Batman can get back to dealing with these Children of Arkham guys. It’s a mess, and we need to fix it fast.
I agreed to a deal with the Joker. Bruce is in a tough spot and, even though the Joker is unpredictable and can’t be trusted, Bruce figures he won’t be getting out of prison anytime soon. Plus, just because you owe someone a favor doesn’t mean you have to fulfill it if it’s risky or goes against what you believe in.
Almost half of the players (49.5%) indicated they would be willing to owe the Joker a favor if he were released from Arkham – the most even split we’ve seen so far!
Should You Stop the Fight or Use the Phone?
- [Stop the fighting] | [Use the Phone]
The Joker is even more disturbed than he appears, and he’s targeted Victor Zsasz, a fellow Arkham Asylum patient who compulsively cuts a mark into his skin after each murder. Harley Quinn creates a diversion by provoking Zsasz into killing, which gives Bruce a chance to get to the phone while the guards are dealing with the attack.
I called off the fight. Seriously, there’s no way Bruce would ever let someone, especially an innocent, get hurt just to achieve a goal. The Joker was trying to mess with my head, and I realized Bruce would ditch the chance to clear his name – that phone call – in a heartbeat if it meant saving a life. It just wouldn’t even be a question for him.
Okay, so I just found out something really interesting! Even if I choose not to answer the phone at the end of the game, I still get out of Arkham! It’s apparently the correct choice, but it’s a bit of a rare one – only about 31% of players actually do that! It feels good to be part of that smaller group who made the ‘right’ call, you know?
Should You Pay Off the Enforcer or Ram the Barricade?
- [Ram the Barricade] | [Pay Off the Enforcer]
Mayor Harvey Dent has created a new street enforcement team with more authority than the police, but this team is already showing signs of corruption. They’re demanding a bribe from Bruce to let him pass through a barricade, and if he refuses and forces his way through, it will likely damage his public image with onlookers.
Look, I get it – Bruce doesn’t need the money, so I decided to just pay off the guy who was causing trouble. It really bugs me to have to bribe someone, but honestly, the thought of Bruce and Alfred smashing through police barricades with everyone watching and filming it? That would be a PR disaster and make things even worse for Bruce in the public eye. It was the lesser of two evils, you know?
51.2% of players paid off the enforcers instead of ramming the barricade!
Should You Go As Batman or Bruce to Visit Harvey Dent?
- [Go as Batman] | [Go as Bruce]
Harvey Dent is making increasingly questionable decisions as mayor, and his recent attempt to take control of the Wayne Estate is a clear example. He claims financial issues linked to Thomas Wayne’s past are the reason, but it’s really a personal attack on Bruce Wayne, threatening to take away his home, money, and everything he has.
I visited Harvey dressed as Batman because his relationship with Bruce is so damaged that they can’t have a straightforward conversation. Harvey’s acting out of pure spite towards Bruce, so I’m hoping Batman can either talk him down or scare him into backing off. Besides, confronting a crooked mayor and his security team as Bruce would be incredibly dangerous.
56.1% of players also intimidated Harvey as Batman instead of risking his wrath as Bruce.
Should You Go to Wayne Manor or Wayne Enterprises?
- [Go to Wayne Enterprises] | [Go to Wayne Manor]
Harvey Dent is determined to reach Wayne Manor with his crew, threatening Alfred, the Batcave, and Bruce Wayne’s home, even if Batman or Bruce try to stop him. Meanwhile, the Penguin has obtained the tools to disable Batman’s technology, stripping him of his advantages. Batman faces an impossible situation – he can’t be in two places at once.
I’ve decided on Wayne Manor. Protecting Bruce and Alfred’s home is my priority, and Bruce can secure Batman’s secret by operating from the Batcave. Also, Harvey Dent is losing control, and we need to intervene immediately before things get even worse.
This choice affects how Episode 5 begins. If Batman goes to Wayne Enterprises, he’ll regain access to his gadgets, but Wayne Manor will be destroyed, forcing Alfred to take shelter in the Batcave. Interestingly, 45.6% of players chose to stop Harvey!
Should You Send Harvey to Prison or Arkham?
- Put him in Prison. | Send him to Arkham.
Okay, so this whole situation really hit home for me, especially as someone who’s followed the story closely. It’s clear that if you really know the Bat, and you’ve seen what happens at Wayne Manor, you understand just how messed up Harvey Dent is. Seeing him act like that – seriously, who brings an explosive shotgun to a friend’s place?! – it just proves he’s not ready to be mayor and needs serious help. It made me think, like Gordon did, whether he belongs in Blackgate or maybe even Arkham. It’s a tough call, but it’s obvious he’s not okay.
I had Harvey committed to Arkham Asylum. Although his choices as mayor led to deaths, a trial wouldn’t be just because he’s mentally unstable. Harvey Dent desperately needs serious psychological care for his condition, and treatment at Arkham is the best way to help him.
