Bioscanner Blueprint Location in Subnautica 2

In Subnautica 2, the Scanner is absolutely essential – you can’t really make any progress without it. Once you reach the second area of the game, you’ll need to upgrade your Scanner to unlock a more powerful scanning ability, letting you discover new things.

The Bioscanner is a significant upgrade to the standard scanner, and it’s essential for finding and analyzing alien technology, plants, and ocean creatures to unlock passive and active Biomods. Fortunately, we’ve created a guide to help you through the process.

Okay, so if you want to unlock the Bioscanner blueprint, you’re gonna need a Repair Tool first. Luckily, I found a link with all the info on how to get one – you can check it out here!

How to Get the Bioscanner Blueprint in Subnautica 2

You only need to scan one Bioscanner to unlock its blueprint. You’ll find it in the Alien Ruins, which become available when you reach the starting area of the second region.

If you’ve already started the Blackbox – Iso mission, the signal will lead you straight to the Bioscanner. Otherwise, follow these instructions:

  • Start from Alien Ruins and target 125 degrees, between east and southeast.
  • Move in this direction until you spot a tall tower with four purple lights at the top.
  • The lights are shiny enough that you can see them in the dark as well.

  • The crashed base is on the left side of the tower, on the edge of a tall cliff.
  • You don’t need to change your direction at all. Just keep moving and make sure the headlights are on, and you will spot the base eventually.
  • Your distance from Alien Ruins should be around 540 meters when you are in front of the crashed base.
  • Now, follow the left side of the base until you spot an open door with a number 73 marked on top of it.

After getting inside the base, repair the first door to your right and go through it. Then, turn left immediately, and in the back corner of the next room, you’ll find a floor hatch that opens into a small tunnel.

Head into the tunnel and go straight ahead until you reach a broken opening. Go through the open doors and continue down the path – you’ll find the Bioscanner at the end, close to a damaged door.

Once you’ve scanned the Bioscanner and obtained the blueprint, you can leave the base. Use the Repair Tool and the information from the Bioscanner to fix the broken door and quickly exit through the shortcut.

While the Bioscanner is important, there’s more to discover in this base. Look around and scan other devices and decorations – but make sure you have enough oxygen first, as you’ll want to explore the crashed base thoroughly.

How to Craft the Bioscanner in Subnautica 2

You can only improve the Scanner using a Modification Station built at your base. Here’s what you’ll need to build it:

  • x2 Titanium
  • x2 Copper
  • x2 Celestine Ores

Now that the Modification Station is set up, you’ll need these materials to build the Bioscanner:

  • x2 Enameled Glass
  • x3 Conduit Crystals
  • x1 Scanner

After it finishes processing, you’ll get the Bioscanner. It still needs to be recharged with a single battery, but it can scan much further than before.

Even if you’ve already scanned creatures using the Scanner, you need to scan them again with the Bioscanner to get their Biomods.
