The ending of Black Clover is widely considered one of the best in shonen manga. Fans are thankful to author Yuki Tabata for giving Asta’s story a fulfilling conclusion after 392 chapters. The series stays true to its original ideas and provides a satisfying finish for readers.
While the end of Black Clover was highly anticipated, it wasn’t without flaws. Many fans have noted issues with the story feeling rushed, some characters not getting the development they deserved, and several plot points being left unresolved. The author could potentially address these problems by releasing additional chapters in the future.
7. Asta, Noelle, and Mimosa’s Open-Ended Romantic Tension
The Love Triangle That Never Fully Resolved
Throughout the series Black Clover, both Noelle and Mimosa fall in love with Asta. While both girls have feelings for him, Noelle seemed more likely to end up with Asta because of their strong connection, shared experiences, and how their feelings grew over time. Mimosa consistently offers Asta support, but generally from afar.
The ending of Black Clover unfortunately doesn’t follow through on the potential romances between Noelle and Asta, or Mimosa and Asta. Neither relationship is clearly resolved, and frustratingly, Asta never receives a confession of love from either girl, leaving both storylines unfinished.
6. The Untold Backstory of Charmy’s Origins
Dwarves Are Still Largely Unexplored
Charmy Pappitson is a fan favorite in the Black Bulls, largely because of her huge appetite and adorable personality. Her story has a particularly happy ending – she finds love with Rill Boismortier, after initially having a crush on Yuno.
Although the story has a happy ending, Charmy’s history as a dwarf isn’t fully developed. The narrative briefly mentions her background but doesn’t delve into its details or explore its deeper meaning.
5. Asta and Yuno’s Ultimate Fight Ends Too Soon
A Final Clash That Felt Rushed
Following Lucius Zogratis’s defeat, Asta and Yuno finally face off in a powerful battle to decide who will become the next Wizard King. Fans have eagerly anticipated this showdown, particularly now that both Asta and Yuno have unlocked their strongest forms – Perfect Full Spirit Dive and Perfect Devil Union.
The fight between Asta and Yuno had some exciting highlights, but it felt shorter than many viewers expected. Asta was clearly favored to win, which didn’t give Yuno much chance to truly compete. With a longer fight, the rivalry could have been explored more evenly.
4. The Diamond Kingdom’s Eight Shining Generals Remain Underused
They Need More Narrative Focus
Throughout the Black Clover series, the Diamond Kingdom consistently struggled with weakness. Despite often fighting against the Clover Kingdom, most of their mages weren’t very powerful. This was especially true of the Eight Shining Generals, who, despite their impressive name, never truly stood out as strong fighters.
The Diamond Kingdom was one of the most powerful in the Black Clover world, and its relentless focus on building a stronger military – even through questionable experiments – could have made it a serious threat to the Clover Kingdom.

3. The Truth About Asta’s Father Remains Hidden
The Identity of Asta’s Father Is Still Unknown
While Asta is the central character in Black Clover, many mysteries surrounding his past still haven’t been solved. One big question is who Asta’s father is, and some fans are starting to wonder if the author, Tabata, has simply forgotten about the character.
We also don’t know much about Asta’s parents and their history. It’s unclear how they met, what happened to their relationship, or if Asta’s father is still alive.
2. Lack of a Transitional Wizard King
Asta Reaches His Dream Prematurely
Watching Asta’s journey in Black Clover, it’s clear he’s earned the title of Wizard King. He constantly pushed himself to prove his worth, even with all the obstacles stacked against him – being an orphan and born without any magical ability in a kingdom where magic is everything. It just feels right to acknowledge and celebrate everything he’s accomplished.
I’ve noticed a lot of discussion about how Asta’s story wrapped up, and it seems some fans feel it moved a little too quickly. A common point is that it would have made more sense to have a temporary Wizard King step in first. While Asta definitely has the power to do the job, some viewers feel he wasn’t quite ready to lead on a personal level, and a transition period would have felt more natural and believable.
1. The World-Building Could Have Been Larger in Scale
Weak Expansion of Countries and Kingdoms
The world of Black Clover is already well-developed, but fans are hoping to see even more kingdoms and countries added to make it even richer and more expansive.
Watching Black Clover, I often felt the world could have been bigger. There are only four major kingdoms, and adding more nations would have really made it feel more expansive. I understand though that the author, Tabata, was dealing with health issues, which probably limited how large the world could become. It’s hopeful to think that if a sequel ever happens, we might finally get to see more of this world explored.
