Pokemon TCG Live is Adding A New Game Mode

Pokemon TCG Live is introducing a new way to play called Build and Battle. Players will compete against each other using ready-made decks and a limited number of card packs. This mode is inspired by the pre-release events for the physical Pokemon Trading Card Game and will launch with the next expansion for Pokemon TCG Live.

Pokemon TCG Live provides many ways to enjoy the popular card game. Players can compete in ranked and friendly matches using the current Standard format, or play more casually with older cards in the Expanded format. The game also features special events called Trainer Trials that challenge players to build decks with specific rules. Now, with the release of the Chaos Rising expansion, Pokemon TCG Live is adding a new sealed game mode where players build decks from unopened packs.

  • Build and Battle: Players receive 40-card pre-built decks and four packs to upgrade their decks, then play up to five games

Pokemon TCG Live is introducing a new limited-time game mode called Build and Battle, starting with the Chaos Rising set. Players can use Event Tokens to join Build and Battle events, where they’ll receive a 40-card deck focused on a specific Pokemon or strategy, along with four packs from the current set. You can improve your deck by swapping cards from the packs before competing against other players. Each Build and Battle run consists of five matches, and you’ll earn more packs and Trainer Points based on how well you perform. The first Build and Battle events will run from May 21st to June 4th, and players will receive a free entry each week.

Pokemon TCG Live is continuing to offer in-game events beyond its latest set. After the Chaos Rising event ends on June 4th, a new event for the Destined Rivals set will be available until June 6th. Following that, a Twilight Masquerade event will run from June 6th to June 8th, and then a Perfect Order event will begin on June 8th and last until June 18th. Each event will have at least one free play opportunity, and Perfect Order will offer a new free run every week.

The upcoming Chaos Rising Build and Battle event is a new experience for many, but players familiar with past events can look forward to similar offerings. Previous Pokemon TCG Build and Battle boxes, like those for Destined Rivals, included four different pre-constructed decks focused on popular characters and themes – for example, Misty, Ethan, and Team Rocket. Twilight Masquerade featured decks built around Festival Lead, Froslass & Munkidori, Infernape, and Tatsugiri. Perfect Order offered decks centered on Serperior, Barbaracle, Tyrantrum, and Doublade.

The latest expansion, Chaos Rising, is adding a ton of new cards and a fun new Build and Battle mode to the Pokemon Trading Card Game Live. Players can look forward to powerful new Mega Pokemon like Mega Greninja ex and Mega Floette ex. The set also introduces Trainer cards featuring characters from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including AZ, Emma, and Philippe. With so much fresh content and a new way to play, Chaos Rising has something for every Pokemon TCG Live fan.
