Ben 10: Ben’s 10 Smartest Transformations, Ranked

Ben 10 is a hugely popular series from Cartoon Network. It follows Ben Tennyson, a boy who starts out a bit spoiled and overconfident, but grows into a kind, capable hero. Using a special watch called the Omnitrix, Ben can transform into various powerful aliens to fight villains from across the galaxy. Among all his alien forms, some are especially smart and resourceful.

Ben has an incredible memory, but he doesn’t always think things through. He tends to be impulsive and make quick decisions, though he’s much better when he chooses an alien form that encourages him to think first. Because some of his alien forms are more intelligent than others, the battles are often exciting and clever.

10. Kickin Hawk Has Incredible Fighting Skills

First Introduced in Ben 10: Omniverse Season 2, Episode 3, “Outbreak”

Kickin Hawk isn’t a tech expert at all. But when it comes to martial arts, he’s one of Ben’s quickest and most naturally talented alien forms. He has incredible fighting instincts and a deep understanding of battle strategy, and despite being a relatively new transformation for Ben, he appears often thanks to his smart fighting style.

Okay, so Kickin Hawk? This guy is a total martial arts beast – seriously, he can go toe-to-toe with anyone. But honestly, brains? Not so much. It’s almost like becoming Kickin Hawk lowered Ben’s IQ! Still, if you can look past that – and I usually can – his fighting skills are just so good, it makes all his appearances totally worth it. He’s a fighting machine, plain and simple.

9. Echo Echo Predicts the Trajectory of their Sonic Attacks

First Introduced in Ben 10: Alien Force Season 1, Episode 2, “Ben 10 Returns: Part 2”

Echo Echo showcases Ben’s clever use of an alien’s powers. While the alien itself isn’t officially smarter, many believe it possesses a hidden intelligence. Echo Echo can make perfect duplicates of himself and precisely control the path of his sound attacks. These abilities become even stronger when Ben transforms into his ultimate form.

Ben has a unique ability: he can create perfect duplicates of himself using Echo Echo. These copies are just as intelligent as the original Ben, highlighting his impressive mental capacity. Being able to control multiple bodies independently is a remarkable skill.

8. Alien X’s Personalities Are Technically Older Than the Universe Itself

First Introduced in Ben 10: Alien Force Season 1, Episode 13, “X = Ben + 2”

Alien X is easily one of Ben’s strongest transformations. While not known for being particularly bright, this alien definitely holds a lot of ancient knowledge. The two other personalities within Alien X, Serena and Bellicus, have existed for centuries, giving them access to almost endless information. However, they don’t always share what they know with Ben.

Alien X’s most impressive ability is likely its incredible intelligence. When the universe is destroyed by Maltruant, Ben uses this form to rebuild everything – not just our universe, but the entire multiverse, right down to every single atom. This makes Alien X one of the most powerful and intelligent forms Ben can transform into in Ben 10.

7. Nanomech Is One of Ben’s Only Aliens Introduced Via a Movie

First Introduced in Ben 10: Alien Swarm

Nanomech is Ben’s tiniest alien, functioning mostly at the level of individual atoms. Because he’s so small, he can slip inside an enemy and fight them from the inside. Ben doesn’t often use this ability, as it’s a very intense attack, but it’s always possible. However, the way Nanomech fights suggests he’s a bit smarter than he appears in the show, Ben 10.

Ben’s ability to move seamlessly between technology and living things suggests that Nanomech understands whatever system he enters. Adaptability is a key power of this alien, and its potential is significant. However, without concrete proof of Nanomech’s full understanding, it’s difficult to determine just how intelligent he really is.

6. Gutrot Calculates Each Chemical Formula in his Head

First Introduced in Ben 10: Omniverse Season 5, Episode 5, “Animo Crackers”

Okay, so Gutrot, the villain in this one, is seriously unsettling. It’s not just that he’s blasting things, it’s how he’s doing it. He’s mentally calculating complex chemical formulas mid-fight – like, doing hardcore chemistry problems while everyone’s trying to kill him! It’s genuinely impressive, and frankly a little terrifying. Most aliens wouldn’t be able to concentrate, let alone actually solve those equations under pressure, but Gutrot just seems to breeze through it. It adds a really unique and creepy layer to his powers.

Gutrot is one of Ben’s newer alien forms, and he’s remarkably intelligent – especially compared to Ben’s other aliens made of chemicals. While Gutrot is very active, he probably isn’t truly Ben’s smartest form because his intelligence likely only extends to what he needs for his powerful abilities, not complex thinking like math.

5. Jurryrigg Can Upgrade or Utilize any Vehicle or Piece of Technology

First Introduced in Ben 10: Ultimate Alien Season 3, Episode 27, “The Eggman Cometh”

Jurryrig is a small alien with the ability to alter technology, particularly vehicles. While not featured much at first, he becomes a regular character in Omniverse and gets a noticeable redesign later in the series.

Though not a strong combatant on his own, this alien becomes incredibly dangerous when wielding a villain’s weapons. Jurryrig is unique in his ability to repurpose enemy powers, but unfortunately, he doesn’t get enough screen time in Ben 10.

4. Frankenstrike Has All the Intelligence of a Mad Scientist

First Introduced in Ben 10 Season 3, Episode 13, “Be Afraid of the Dark”

Frankenstrike is a unique alien, combining traits of both Frankenstein’s creator and his monster. He’s incredibly strong, using electricity in his attacks, and is also smarter than most. Despite his potential, the series doesn’t give him much chance to really shine, making him one of Ben’s least-used and most overlooked aliens.

The serious scientist form in Ben 10 doesn’t appear very often. Most of Ben’s transformations are just different versions of himself. However, the way this form speaks suggests it’s much smarter than Ben normally is. Unfortunately, the official storyline only features this transformation twice.

3. Upgrade Can Easily Control Any Piece of Technology at Will

First Introduced in Ben 10 Season 1, Episode 4, “Permanent Retirement”

Upgrade’s strength comes from his ability to control and improve any kind of technology. He can even take over intelligent machines, though it’s much harder to do. However, when he’s not merged with technology, he’s less powerful.

This alien’s intelligence probably comes from being artificially made. Upgrades are essentially robots built by the Galvan, and the Galvan likely shared some of their own intelligence with them. But Ben can still transform into other aliens who are even smarter.

2. Brainstorm’s Brain is So Smart He Can Shock People With His Brain (Both Literally and Figuratively)

First Introduced in Ben 10: Alien Force Season 1, Episode 6, “Pier Pressure”

Brainstorm is surprisingly intelligent. Though he isn’t very mobile, he’s incredibly knowledgeable. He’s more charming than Greymatter, but probably not as smart. Asmuth believes Galvans, as a species, are generally more intelligent.

Brainstorm definitely proves he deserves his reputation. He consistently outsmarts opponents with his intelligence and consistently creates situations where he wins. His plans are strategic, well-thought-out, and truly impressive. However, he would probably lose in a battle of wits against even the simplest Galvan.

1. Grey Matter Is Easily The Smartest Alien in Ben’s Epic Arsenal

First Introduced in Ben 10 Season 1, Episode 2, “Washington B.C.”

Grey Matter is Ben’s smartest alien form. Given that a Galvan – the species that created the Omnitrix – designed the device, it’s logical Ben could potentially build one himself. The series even hints that Ben 10,000 used the Grey Matter transformation to improve his own Omnitrix. Ultimately, Grey Matter plays a key role in making Ben 10,000 so powerful.

Let me tell you, watching Gray Matter operate is something else. While he’s definitely not a physical powerhouse, put a puzzle in front of him, a problem to solve, and he absolutely shines. Honestly, the things this guy – and others like him – have achieved are just beyond compare. He’s not just intelligent; he’s remarkably capable and, frankly, a truly impressive character. It’s a battle of brains, and he’s in a league of his own.
