LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight New Beginnings Surfboards & Red Brick

Can’t find all the collectibles in the Docks area of the New Beginnings mission in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight? This level contains five Surfboards and one Red Brick, and it’s easy to overlook them if you rush through the main story.

All New Beginnings Docks Collectibles & Red Brick

Collectible Current Objective Location
Surfboard #1 Chase Detective Flass Next to a cart you push after using Gordon to gum up some cogs.
Surfboard #2 Chase Detective Flass To your right after Flass makes a suspended green container spin.
Surfboard #3 Chase Detective Flass Directly in front of you after stopping the fast-moving containers.
Surfboard #4 Chase Detective Flass To the left of an ice cream truck after a small warehouse.
Surfboard #5 Build something to reach Flass To the right of the battering ram you build.
Red Brick Build something to reach Flass In the building to the left of the battering ram. Grapple onto it and fall through the roof.

Gather all necessary items before you use the battering ram and speak with Flass, because that conversation will finish this LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight mission.

All Five Surfboard Locations in New Beginnings

Surfboard #1

  • Current Objective: Chase Detective Flass

Keep following the path until you control Jim Gordon and sabotage the machinery to prevent a yellow container from hitting you. Once you’re past the container, look to your left to find the first surfboard next to a cart that needs to be moved.

Surfboard #2

  • Current Objective: Chase Detective Flass

Keep following the path until you see a brief scene with Flass making a green container rotate. Once you can move again, turn to your right – you’ll find a surfboard leaning against the wall in the corner.

Surfboard #3

  • Current Objective: Chase Detective Flass

Continue along the main path and use Gordon to halt the quickly approaching green containers. After the crates, you’ll encounter enemies armed with guns, and Surfboard #3 is right ahead, located at the base of a ladder.

Surfboard #4

  • Current Objective: Chase Detective Flass

Once you’ve dealt with the enemies and cleared the area, head through the small warehouse. Turn left when you see the ice cream truck, then follow the path marked with gold studs. You’ll find a surfboard leaning against a wall close to the water.

Surfboard #5

  • Current Objective: Build something to reach Flass

When you begin constructing the battering ram, check the top-right corner for the last Surfboard. It’s important to destroy it and collect everything else before speaking with Flass, because you won’t be able to return to that area once you start his storyline.

New Beginnings Red Brick Location

Nautical Red Brick

  • Current Objective: Build something to reach Flass

To build the battering ram, grapple onto the roof of the building with the yellow and black signs – it’s on the left side of the machine. Then, drop through the roof to find the Nautical Red Brick.

What Does the Nautical Red Brick Do?

Use Nautical Red Brick to add a dark blue, aqua, and yellow color scheme to your clothes and vehicles.

New Beginnings Collectible Rewards

Destroying all five Surfboards will earn you the Surfboard Trophy, which you can then use to personalize your Batcave.

Can You Replay the Docks Section of New Beginnings for Missed Collectibles?

You can replay the New Beginnings chapter if you need to, so you won’t permanently miss any of its collectibles. However, be careful during your first playthrough – it’s easy to miss some Surfboards and the Red Brick if you rush through it.
