When Dragon Ball Z first began, becoming a Super Saiyan was considered a legendary transformation. It was a tremendously powerful state that hadn’t been seen for thousands of years until Goku achieved it during the battle on Namek. Goku’s easy victory over Frieza proved just how powerful and special this transformation truly was.
Over time, this iconic transformation has become less prominent in the story with the introduction of many newer, more powerful forms. While Super Saiyan 1 remains strong, not all characters who use it are as powerful as Goku or Vegeta. Some Super Saiyans in Dragon Ball now struggle to compete with the stronger fighters.
5. Cabba Was The Weakest Universe 6 Saiyan
Didn’t Amount to Much
Cabba was the first Saiyan from Universe 6 introduced in Dragon Ball Super. Unlike the Saiyans fans were already familiar with, those from Universe 6 are generally peaceful and don’t focus on conquest, though they’re just as strong. In fact, Universe 6 Saiyans actually seem to have naturally higher power levels than those from Universe 7.
I always thought Cabba had potential! He definitely put up a good fight against Vegeta, and people in Universe 6 really respect him as a powerful warrior. But honestly, even though he went Super Saiyan and fought in both the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power, he kind of faded into the background. He just wasn’t strong enough to overcome most of the opponents he faced, and it felt like he was easily outmatched. It’s a shame, because he could have been a real standout!

4. Caulifla Was A Prodigious Warrior From Universe 6
A Promising Fighter
While Caulifla wasn’t the most powerful fighter from Universe 6 in the Tournament of Power, she showed incredible promise. Remarkably, she achieved Super Saiyan form simply by hearing Cabba quickly describe how to gather energy – she picked it up just from his explanation!
Caulifla’s standard Super Saiyan transformation wasn’t particularly impressive. It quickly became ineffective, so she had to use more powerful forms like Super Saiyan Grade 2 and Super Saiyan 2 throughout the tournament. This suggests she wasn’t very skilled with the basic Super Saiyan ability.
3. Teen Trunks And Goten Still Have A Long Way To Go
Young Warriors Who Have Fallen Off
During the Super Hero storyline, Trunks and Goten stepped up as fighters, but they did so using their Saiyaman disguises. This highlighted how they were holding back their true strength – they weren’t using their Saiyan abilities and had even lost the ability to transform into Super Saiyans, as shown in the movie.
Some people might think Universe 6 Saiyans are more powerful, but it’s important to remember that even though they’re generally calmer than Universe 7 Saiyans, Cabba was still a highly skilled fighter. Trunks and Goten, on the other hand, mostly treat fighting as a pastime. They’ve practiced with strong opponents like Broly, Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta, but they still have a lot of training to do before they fully master their Super Saiyan transformations.
2. Kid Trunks Could Go Super Saiyan At A Young Age
A Powerful Child, But Just Barely
When the Buu Saga began, Vegeta – like many fans – was shocked to see Trunks transform into a Super Saiyan at just eight years old. This powerful transformation, once thought to be reserved for only the strongest Saiyans, was now being used effectively by a child.
Even though Kid Trunks could transform into a Super Saiyan, his power wasn’t very high because he was so young and didn’t have much fighting experience. He and Goten had to combine their power by fusing into Gotenks to have a chance against Majin Buu.
1. Kid Goten Was The Weakest Super Saiyan
A Marginal Difference in Strength Keeps Him Belong Trunks
During the Buu Saga in Dragon Ball, transformations like Super Saiyan became easier to achieve, with younger characters reaching the form despite having far less experience and hardship compared to Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta. Many fans believe this marked the beginning of transformations losing their impact in the series.
Currently, Goten and Trunks are shown to be at similar power levels. However, during the Buu Saga, Trunks was noticeably stronger, mainly because he was a year older. This difference was highlighted when Goku was teaching them the Fusion Dance; he specifically asked Trunks to reduce his power to match Goten, unintentionally making Goten the weakest Super Saiyan shown in the series.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
